Referee: ____ Cuney Cakir ??

TEAM FORM: --- Spurs WDWWW ------ Leipzig - LDLDW
-----(All Competitions)

This will be the first encounter between us. Its also the the first time the team from RB Leipzig (RBL) is facing an English club in a competitive fixture whilst we will be facing German opposition in the UCL round of 16 for the second consecutive season , after knocking out Borussia Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate in 2018/19.

The only previous game between us and a German team at our new stadium ended 7-2 win for Bayern Munich, back in October this season. Our two CL games against German opposition this season have produced 13 goals. Finalist in 2018/19, we are in the knock out stages of the CL for the 3rd consecutive season - we had only made it past the group stage once before (2010/11)

RBL have reached the CL knock out stages for the first time in their history. Wolfsburg are the last German team - outside of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund - to make it past the round of 16, back in 2015/16

We conceded 14 goals in this season's CL group phase, the highest tally among the teams in the competition. Half of those goals came in our home game against Bayern Munich (2-7). Only one of our 21 Champions league home games has ended in a draw (0-0) v AC Milan, March 2011

Leipzig are in a bit of an injury crisis of their own aren't they? Read somewhere that they don't have a single natural CB available for this game with two of them injured and one suspended.

Probably means we end up losing 1-0 though ?

Such a fascinating game, On paper, Leipzig is the better team at the moment. Spurs will need to produce a top performance to beat this side or hope they are wasteful in front of goal and we punish them on the break. We will definitely need some luck.

funny you bring up losing 1-0 with no opposing CBs, I was just telling my buddies this game reeks of us not scoring because of course we wouldn't score against a team playing two OOP CBs. Also predicting we get at least 16 shots on target with their goalie playing like De Gea in that one game where he was pretty much unconscious against us

I'm pretty sure Middlesbrough didn't have a natural CB when we played them in the FA cup and it still took a hard fought replay to get past them

Whatever happens we HAVE to be clinical in front of goal.

Moura can be summed up so easily if you look at the goals he scores, v the chances he wastes.

Instinctively and hitting the ball early, is far more successful than when he's in the box and facing up a defender. He and Son both dally on the ball without getting their head up, and instead of shooting early or playing to a better positioned player, they try an extra trick and are tackled.

Just this season, Wolves away, Southampton home, Olympiacos away and even more if you look at last season.

We can't have that tomorrow. We have to take advantage of any potential weaknesses they have. A nice lead in preparation for the return leg is essential. I dont see us keeping them out

Game I've been most excited for this season, been looking forward to it since the draw. Feel like elimination football is Jose in his element.

Rbl form is trash at the moment and we keep winning by hook or by crook. 5 nil to Leipzig.

More Mourinho shithousery, please.

Can see us wining 3-2 with some or all of the following happening
  1. Two shots on target for us all game
  2. A red card for them
  3. Late Verts substitution (on for Stevie B)
  4. A goal ruled offside (against them)
  5. Mourinho ironically applauding the ref
  6. Mourinho sincerely applauding the ref
  7. We get a penalty
  8. Winks fist facing one of our younger players
  9. Us having 12% possession all game
  10. Dele falling over in the area
  11. Lots of needless giving the ball away
  12. Moura running into blind alleys for most the game
  13. Moura scoring a brace in the last 90 seconds of the game
  14. Dele falling over in the area
  15. Gedson on for Dele with 12 minutes to go
  16. Dele falling over in the area after Moura’s winner
  17. Mourinho being sublimely humble post match interview

Son Injured FFS.....So.....

Play Dele as a false 9, Lo Celso in behind with Bergwijn and Moura on the flanks and N'Dombele and winks in the middle. Sorted (sort of) ?

Son out for the foreseeable.

That must come as an absolute blessing on here after the amount of stick he got on the match thread against villa. ?

Well hopefully that forces the issue with Ndombele and we go

Winks
Lo Celso Ndombele
Moura Dele Bergwijn

Only alternatives are Lamela, Gedson, Sess or even Parrott. Big concern is going to be these players having to play every game and every minute with the lack of rotation options.

Looks like we'll see a very young front line against Norwich. With potentially no Son or Kane for the next 2 months I cannot see how we can compete in two Cup competitions and the league. Mourinho wont like a possible exit but I think he'll have to play kids in the FA Cup.

Just seeing the news about Sonny. The decision not to buy a striker in Jan is looking more negligent by the day. Totally fucking stupid in fact.
