Alli
Bergwijn Ndombele Lo Celso Lucas
Winks
Davies Sanchez Toby Tanganga
Lloris
With Werner cutting in off the left I'd prefer we went with Tanganga rather than having Aurier marauding up the flank and leaving space behind. Also lowers the chance of us giving away a stupid penalty.

I’d think that both Winks and Davies start. If you saw the training vid today, Tanganga, Jan, Sess, Gedson & Ndombele all trained away from the main group. That possibly suggests that they will not start but will have bench places. But who knows now? Personally I’d go with:

lloris
Aurier/Tanganga Tony Sanchez Davies
Winks
LoCelso Ndombele
Moura Dele/Lamela Bergwijn

After Jose’s presser though, we could see a totally new formation!!
Damn...that reads like such an obvious bench. Real shame if Ndombele doesn't get some minutes in this one. I get that he needs to prove his fitness but he usually ups his game against the big teams and we'll really need some extra inspiration from somewhere now that we've lost Son.

I also think Ndombele will look a lot better when he has players like Lo Celso and Winks around him. Players who can protect the ball and support him rather than giving it away and making him chase. On that note, have Lo Celso and Ndombele ever started a game together?

I think this is the team Jose will go with:

Alli
Bergwijn - Lo Celso - Moura
Dier - Winks
Davies - Sanchez - Alderweireld - Aurier
Lloris

No way will Dier start (fucking better not) and Jose will most definitely play Lucas as a striker over Dele, considering for the most part he even played Lucas over Son as a striker.

Maybe we’ll see the Jose diamond?

lloris
Aurier Toby Sanchez Davies
Winks
LoCelso Ndombele
Dele
Moura Bergwijn

could play Tanganga instead of Aurier as he’s more defensively aware, gives us a solid base, and a pretty good attacking unit too, without a striker, Dele can still do his late runs and make up the top three from there.

If you play Dele on the left you have to play Aurier for the whipped crosses off the right wing. That can be a winning combo.

I would prefer Tanganga over Aurier too but can’t see it happening unfortunately

I’m sure Jose would prefer to start Ndombele but can’t see him lasting 90 minutes. Since our game plan seems to be to sit back and absorb the high press for an hour or so and then crank up the pressure as our opponents tire, I expect Ndombele to be introduced later when he can do more damage

Aurier is my big concern for this game(as he is for every game) I can see a red card or penalty or both. Especially with the speed of Werner in the box.

Hoping for a Mourinho masterclass. My brain is saying that he's been holding back a few players (fitness / rest) and prepping them for this one.

I would love to see a Mid of Gelson - WInks - Ndom. With GLC pushed forward to allow Dele to float. the team should control the middle with the aim of releasing the speedy players.

Cman Jose. show us that shit-howery winning mentality.

Wouldn't be surprised if Davies is rested for Chelsea, as he has only just come back. Tanganga to continue as LB.

Really not sure about Ndombele. Mourinho clearly cant trust him to last the 90, but surely he has to play because Dier with Winks is a poor combo.

Who are you dropping for Gedson? The only 2 options you’ve left are the speedy players you want to release on the counter

Dier starting makes every other formation conversation and tactical nuance redundant.

In short, don't start him.

As much as I want to believe it, I just can't see us keeping a clean sheet. If this happens then realistically to stand a really decent chance of going through, we need to be scoring 3 at home at least. That is going to be a tall order, not impossible, but very difficult. We can only hope that we take all of the chances that come out way.

Have to say I'm getting a little irked by Jose's comments on Parrot. Dortmund's front 3 were all under 20 & one was 17 & they still managed to give PSG a game, so we won't know if Parrot has got it unless he's allowed to play in games like this.

i've realised the CM3 suggested means i have too many players. fair point! a CM3 (which i like) would mean a front three meaning GLC or Dele miss out. and i think JM will start both.

But we have to take his word as he sees him on a daily basis we as fans don't, so if he says he is not ready then that's the case.

Who knows? It might be a maturity thing with Parrott.
