If we were going about this like we did pre Jose, we’d be 5 or 6 down by now. The evidence speaks for itself that this is at least a valid way of approaching it

Nonsense really. We were dominated at various times last season in our CL run and were never 5-6 down.

The last few results of Poch tenure have messed with your mind.

I'm not knocking Mourinho's win against the odds record, but getting dominated week in week out is hardly aspirational. This is not controlled or well drilled back to the wall football this is running on blind luck often against teams we shouldnt be totally in awe of. It cant last.

I still see the same problems we've had defensively for years, ball watch and dont get anywhere near players. Its so easy for them to find someone to pass to even if theyre in the goal area! We seem to marks patches of grass. So lucky to be 0.0

Not been able to watch, how does Jose have the front line set up? Dele up top?

Didn't expect anything different, knew we would get dominated and hemmed in, we have no focal presence up front, at least we're still in the match.

Just seen Lamela being wheeled to the touchline in his cage, flanked by at least 12 zoo keepers. Looks like they’re proper “revving” him up for the second half with that cattleprod. rip energy drink fc

Who wasn't a Poch fanboy when we were playing great attacking football? We all certainly were. I get the impression he was invited to the training ground a few times as he always called Poch "boss" when they spoke. He's not wrong that this is terrible football to watch is he?
Playing free flowing attacking football under Poch is the greatest myth ever.

We were a good pressing unit, but there was no gameplan in the attacking third. When we no longer press as a unit, we get 900 backpasses and sidelasses per match. Great attacking football....lol yea, believe the hype, i believe my eyes

We've been shit, they've been very good. A few decent individual performances from GLC, Sanchez, Lloris, but very poor as a team. I see what Jose is trying to do, but these players simply don't look capable. I'd like to think Ndombele could make a big difference, but I don't know whether he would be up to the pace of the game.

He's been extremely poor in all aspects thus far. I can accept players being out of form as long as I can see effort. Serge just looks like he's only playing because we were one short.

Totally, and I can't for the life of me figure out what goes through his head. He's vern done so many times and still he doesn't close the space. Would rather see Tanganga - at least he's disciplined.

I don't think it's that bad. Lloris has made 2 saves, it is the CL!!
Berjwijn had a good shot saved. There is a long way to go in the 2 legs yet.

Oh dear - some people just can't wait for the opportunity to be 'proven right'. Judge him at the end of next season by all means.
And some people are just blinded by shiny things and big words.

Would have thought a year and a half and 500 million euros in transfers at utd proves the point well enough.

That we are still playing with no system, trusting results to luck and individual flashes of inspiration proves it further.

I guess were going to just have to get used to low scoring games from now on & turn into Sheffield United, we just gotta hope we can nicks goals like they can !
If we were playing like Sheffield Utd, I think our fans would be a lot happier!

I think Ndombele will come on at some point....

I do think however whilst you have apoint re the outball, all that would be different is we would hoof it to Kane... yeah it may stick a bit more but the tactics are still shit... the only reason we arent down is because Hugo and they missed... im not going to say lucky because if you cant score then you cant finish in my view.

We are all just running blind alleys... and chasing shadows.

i don’t disagree. but i think you over simplify the role of the target man. for example, RB aren’t ‘hoofing’ it up to Schik. the target man can create space for others (as long as they make intelligent runs, which Moura doesn’t) as well as hold up and let others play off him.

plus, we may not have the exact personnel Jose wants to implement his ideal system at the moment. i’ll judge him at the end of next season.

Not enough love for our captain Hugo Lloris tonight either. Very quick to be chastised, very slow to be praised. Who'd be a goalkeeper.
