Yet more away near me last night. Those who buy on the exchanges and then sell onwards need a fucking slap.

I don’t think it’s just JM or the next big thing we may or may not be able to land. I think there’s some serious dysfunction at the recruitment/ footballing management aspect of the club that goes beyond the possible shortcomings of any manager

Agree absolutely.

I don’t think I am. I didn’t say the club was incompetent, I said that there are some incompetent people at the club. It is, with all respect, a different thing.

It’s laughable, however, that we still haven’t invested in a striker after all these years of riding our luck with Kane, when all the signs were there that we needed one. And now we’re fucked for the rest of the season because both Kane and Son are out for most, if not all of it. That’s shoddy organisational management
We all know this but you constantly repeating it wont change things or make it happen. Your rhetoric is getting very tedious now

I’m just glad Jose didn’t use Dier today.
I have to respectfully disagree.

While he may not be the quickest and capable Dier we used to see, if Mourinho still has long ball playing to the front in mind, he is definitely one who can do the pinging forward accurately, instead of relying Toby so too many times that became so predictable.

Always interests me that as fans we watch the same game but see things very differently. I thought Werner was quality tonight and his link up play with Angelino was impressive. Aurier just could not cope at all.

25 goals in 31 games for Werner this season and it was easy to see why. Would love to see him at Spurs.
Would still love him to a Spurs. Quick and powerful, still young.

But very annoyed with his celebration of cupping his hand to his ear. I thought only scum players did that ffs. Not as if we are a direct rival of RB. That look instantly transformed my image of him fittingly into a Liverpool/chelscum/scum player..

I have no issues with anyone have a different opinion. My question would be , who would you have replaced him with?

The current Dier seems too slow for our quick thinking, industrious midfield players . In the recent matches that I’ve seen him play, it seems like the game just passes by around him as though he wasn’t on the pitch. I’d really like to see the old Dier (his first couple of seasons with us) but I don’t have high hopes of seeing that Dier returning.

Just interested, does anyone remember two worse full backs? I’m 42, and maybe Austin and Edinburgh were nearly as bad. I’m lost for words with Aurier, he plays football like a nine year old. Davies is League one standard, slow, very poor in possession, offers nothing going forward, but is okay in the air and is average at marking. Fingers crossed in the transfer window.

I’m the same age as you and we’ve had fullback problems at spurs for as long as I can remember. We’ve definitely had more bad ones than good ones in the last 30 odd years that’s for sure.

During the game, I could not figure out why RBL players were so much fitter than Spurs.

Then I recalled something. From 21 December till 19 February they only played 6 games and had a clear break till 18 January.

Spurs played 13 games in two months and only had 5 days rest last week. No wonder they were first to every ball.

Of course Werner is good, but he was allowed absolute masses of space. Several times he just sat on the left wing with no Spurs player within 30 yards of him, waiting for a nice long pass. The marking of him was abysmal.

That wasn't the only reason they were also highly motivated

I'm not a fan of stats because they can (and often are) skewed to give a certain view. So I'm going to do it :D

At first glance that doesn't compare too badly given our injuries and all the other stuff we're enduring this shitty, shitty season, what were people expecting?

I'm suggesting people's expectations need lowering a bit here. We're not the club we were, we're in a crisis. Literally.

We didn't knock it about from the back. Seriously? When, this season, have we done that with any degree of success. When we were doing it people were complaining that it was costing us goals, all that slowly faffing around stuff wasn't popular then was it.

Injuries, squad deterioration, managerial changes, poor off the pitch, poor on the pitch and no sign of it getting better. We're going to need some of that siege mentality if that's what Mourinho is trying to do because this isn't a made up issue, its real. There isn't a combination of players that he can pick that will suddenly transform us. That's going to take time and at the rate we sign players, fifteen thousand transfer windows :D

See you all in the year 2720 or whenever :cautious:

Agree but at the same time not.
My impression is that that specific line up in that specific formation cause a disjointed and incoherent team performance that shouldn't be necessary at this level, even given all and every negating circumstance this season. I would be shocked if there isn't a different approach with the same squad that would directly lead to a better aggregated team performance.
