Edwards, Onomah and KWP are all Spurs fans. It's rare enough finding Spurs fans in the academies but when your 3 most talented players are all Spurs fan it definitely feels like an opportunity missed.

At least we got Winks and Kane who are Spurs fans.

If I'm Edwards there is no chance I'm coming back here. Mourinho wouldn't guarantee him football and he isn't a Mourinho type players anyway. Soon enough he'll criticise him for his height or not tracking back enough.

He's enjoying his football he should just stay where he is. Maddox has just joined them as well so he'll be playing with 2 other players he won the u19 Euros with next season. For England's sake hopefully he can perform again and get a move to a bigger club

Really is infuriating how we managed to balls up integrating those three. I reckon they’re all going to have very good seasons next year.

I don’t think we’ll see Edwards back here either, but if Mourinho wanted him, he’d probably consider coming back. Why wouldn’t he? We’re still one of the bigger clubs in Europe.

Having said that, I actually have a feeling Edwards will replace Sancho at Dortmund if he moves to United ? ...

It just makes sense. Dortmund can give him Edwards the platform to excel and then 2-3 years down the line turn a profit by selling him back to a PL team. Also, Marcus and Sancho are good pals so you can imagine that Jadon has been giving him the rundown of how the Bundesliga is etc

I supported the approach taken by Poch. I believed that the players would show themselves capable if they trained with the senior squad.

However, in hindsight, I was wrong. At the very least Onomah and KWP should have been given more chances especially since those were two weak areas for so long.

Need to hold my hands up and say you guys that criticised Poch's methods at that time were right.

Lovely stuff. Powell is a brilliant guy that I really feel should be head coach at a decent level, it feels like a coup to get him in there.

So this sounds like two people, Powell and Mason basically teaming up as McDermott's replacement, am I getting that right?

Edit: Three people actually, with Rastrick.

Academy Manager Dean Rastrick has been promoted to oversee the academy - so I guess that is more the McDermott role. With Mason and Powell supporting him as head of coaching and player development for U17 - U23s.

Yeah,I guess so

Chairman Daniel Levy said: “We have taken considerable time to review our staffing structure over the past few months following John McDermott’s departure to join the FA, in order to clearly identify roles and responsibilities in each area of the Academy moving forward.
“We have a proud record of producing Academy players that can step up to our First Team and we believe Dean is the right person to ensure our player development principles and philosophies – intrinsically linked to our identity as a Club – will continue to evolve and be implemented as we move forward into the new season and beyond.

Shame to lose Gibbsy but excited about Powell. I was always a fan of his at Charlton and I seem to remember he was always pretty vocal about being a Spurs fan in his playing days. Nice to see him finally at the club.

We've withdrawn our U23 team from the EFL Trophy

Good. It's a pathetic devaluation of the competition to have them in it in the first place.

In fact given the compressed season I'm surprised they haven't sacked it off altogether, after all nobody gives a shit before they're in the semi final anyway.

Not sure Norwich City U23s taking part instead adds to the value any! I'm sure it was purely a footballing decision from us

Hmm. Internal appointment replace McDermott not surprising, certainly cheaper. Would have been nice to have someone come in with some fresh ideas, though.

What are we going to do for Carabao Cup? Kids in that? Same midweeks as our Europa League qualifying.

I just noticed that. WTF is that about?

That's exactly why I thought/hoped none of the teams in Europe would compete in the Carabao this season.

And of course we're the only club this affects. Because of course it is.

If we have such little interest in the competition that we were willing to just drop out completely, doesn't entering but playing our reserves and youth team make more sense? The worst case scenario is we end up out of the competition anyway, the best case scenario is we put a little run together, give game time to players who might otherwise struggle to see any, and potentially reach the latter stages of the competition when we can decide whether it's worth treating it more seriously.

I imagine we’ll be sending quite a few out on loan and will be using the rest the first 3 weeks of the season in the first team as we have a 7 games in 2 weeks stretch and 9 in 3
