He receives the ball and has the skill (and maybe vision?) to make things happen certainly. But it is reactive and not central to the way the team plays, at the moment. Maybe that will change. Yesterday, the brilliant run wasn't planned - it happened. Someone gave him the ball and he saw the opportunity and reacted. I don't disagree he is a good player at all. I don't see he has a plan and therefore pulls the strings of the rest of the team in that way from a central position - he does that through his skill and opportunity.
In addition, if the rest of the team are playing such quick flicky, little passes to each other then it is not surprise that sometimes they don't work.
But at least you had the decency to reply as to why you disagreed!
Fingers crossed and I hope the rest of the team have the ability and skills to react to their way of playing then . Coincidently, I feel it is certainly no coincidence at all that the team's demise came with the loss of Dembele. This position was my priority - that's all I was trying to sayHaving watched a lot of both Gio and Tongee, I can assure you that they both possess the ability to control the team, they simply need a proper team shape where they play centrally.
I personally think we’re already seeing many signs of Gio taking control of our play, when Mourinho puts him central and doesn’t waste him out wide.
Sure both him and Tongee love to play it quickly but they are more than capable of control and just because they move it quick, it doesn’t mean they don’t see the bigger picture.
In time, I’m confident you will realise they both possess the skills you’re looking for.
Yep. Absolutely correct. Since he left we just cannot control games. I can remember the game away at juventus. We went 2 nil down and just took control. We dominated. We did at pool that season, Barcelona last season. We could go to virtually any ground and dominate.Fingers crossed and I hope the rest of the team have the ability and skills to react to their way of playing then. We haven’t built it yet...Aren't there any 5* hotels in Seven Sisters??
Half the players you listed are central midfielders, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas, Lamela, and SIssoko were made available to interested clubs in the summer.Does seem a strange buy imo. We have attacking midfielders out the arse. We cant play them all.
We badly need defensive players.
I wonder who is going to be leaving as I doubt we'll keep Kane, Alli, Son, Moura, Lamela, Fernandes, LoCelso, Winks, Ndomble, Sissoko and now Bergwijn.
I hope we're not turning into Arsenal, just keep going for attacking midfielders instead of the positions we need.
Mourinho seems to want to create a ball playing team rather than a team of physical specimens like Dyer/Sissoko/Wanyama. Sissoko is vulnerable, but I think he likes both lamela and lucas.Half the players you listed are central midfielders, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas, Lamela, and SIssoko were made available to interested clubs in the summer.
Remember the “You’ve been tangoed” adverts from the 90’s? We should do a fan version in blue with “you’ve been Levy’ed”. Cue shots of angry Leverkusen, PSV, PSG Chairman being slapped by a small bald man and a large blue cockerel... And I’ve clearly had too much beer...Netflix has Don’t Fuck With Cats
Amazon’s gonna have Don’t Fuck With Transfer Hungry Spurs Fans
Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but anyway ...
Well Kane, Dele, Son, Moura and Lamela operate exclusively in the final third, while Fernandes, Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele and Sissoko operate primarily in the middle third. If we’re going with 2 for ever position then that leaves room for 2 more additions to our front 6, no?Does seem a strange buy imo. We have attacking midfielders out the arse. We cant play them all.

I can see this being an interesting time for us, a lot of people seemed worried about negative football under Mourinho. If he wants a balls out attacking formation, hell yeah!Mourinho seems to want to create a ball playing team rather than a team of physical specimens like Dyer/Sissoko/Wanyama. None of those I listed can be considered defensive midfielders. They're attacking. Some more creative than others but none of them have the defensive qualities we need in midfield and have been.missing since Dier and Wanyama fell away.Half the players you listed are central midfielders, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas, Lamela, and SIssoko were made available to interested clubs in the summer.
