This might seem an odd thread so thank you for reading. You won't get the time back.

For years I've been working between Manchester, London and all over Europe. This season I have removed London from that equation and subsequently have seen more North West teams play than ever before.

At the beginning of the season I saw Burnley play and was very impressed by the performance of Steven Fletcher. Since then I've made a point of watching every game he's played in this season.

I've highlighted Steven Fletcher as I honestly believe he could develop into a class act. I know people will throw his goal scoring record in my face, but take into account that he has played for fairly poor sides.
He has fantastic technique and his first touch his sublime. For a tall guy he has great balance and awareness and his positional sense is spot on. He's good in the air. He's not the quickest, but he has a real presence about him and he's a very physical player. Another thing is he works incredibly hard and his attitude, from people I've spoken to, is very positive.

Rumours up here suggests Everton are keen to snap him up, but personally I would love to see him at Spurs.

Wondered what others thought?

8 goals in the league for such a shit Burnley team isn't bad and some of his goals have been very well taken but I honestly haven't seen enough of him to comment further. He does seem like a classic Moyes signing though.

I recommended him around January time as someone I'd like to see us go for if Burnley go down.

I like him a lot, and I have a sneaky feeling that he's not yet built a reputation big enough to attract the kind of fee a player of his potential deserves. I can honestly see a Premier League team picking him up for around the £5m mark in the summer. I'd like to think that we'd be sniffing about, but who knows.

Wasn't he at one stage linked with real madrid? Although not sure how much thruth in that.
Think he looks a decent striker, and still developing as fairly young. The moyes type signing, I totally agree with. Think could thrive under right coach at a reasonable sized club.

I think it's a fact that they had him scouted.

I think he'd be better suited to Everton than us, but if he lose Pav and Robbie in the summer, we could do worse than replacing one of those with Fletcher.

Alot of what I've seen of him reminds me of Dean Ashton, he is pretty young and I wouldn't be averse to us signing him as that much talked about "young 4th choice" striker who would accept not playing every game.

That said, I doubt that we would go for him and as has been mentioned he has David Moyes signing written all over him.

The comparison with Ashton is a good one.

Is that the lad who scored against City?

Great finish that was.

I did it for Kendall! lol
I thjnk Fletcher is good though, he'll replace Pav nicely.

I'm gonna be having nightmares about Darren Bent's gormless face soon thanks to this place, waking up in a cold sweat thinking we have re-signed him from Blunderland for a record fee. :eek:mg:

He could have had double what he's scored this season, he's missed some absolute sitters...

He's missed a few, but I would also argue that Burnley create so little any miss is going to be highlighted.
He also has 3 assists in the league and 1 in the cups, which for a player in a poor team isn't bad. These statistics aren't going to blow people away I know.

dean ashton isnt a good comparision. dean ashton is more teddy sheringham. Fletcher is more direct, more darren bent with better technique. He looks good didnt do me any favours for my fantasy league team though.

I've watched Burnley a fair bit (got a good mate who's a massive Clarets fan, so I've had one eye on their results for the last few years).

I think Fletcher is pants TBH. He's missed some absolute sitters. Bent-Sandra-Gate style sitters.

Move along folks, nothing to see here IMO.

I disagree completely with that. From what I've seen, he's an old fashioned target man with a modern twist. Very much in the Dean Ashton mould.

What games have you seen him play this season?

Every striker in the world misses chances
