It's been a terrible start of the season for me and my team.

First home game of the season, we conceded after 5 mins after a mistake from our captain. Then we go 0-2 down straight after half time from a corner. We then get 1 back straight away, I have a chance to make it 2-2 but I hit the post. We go on to lose 1-5... Gutted.

Second game, we're 1-3 up in the first half and go onto lose 5-3.... Frustrating!!!! So sitting on zero points after 2 games is very disappointing. I'm quite unfit though, need to work on that.

Anyone else here play? Or just me??

I play in the Sussex league - our team has a first and reserves, I move between the two but mainly for the seconds. We've only played one game so far this season, with ol' Disco popping up with a late winner, rolling the ball into an empty net after a blatant foul on the goalkeeper by one of our players.

You gotta look out for River Murray of Geoffrey something or other FC. hattrick kid!

haha well on Sunday when we was 2-0 up, one guy on the other team scored a freekick in the top corner, looked like a cross to me. But then he scored a volley from outside the box, off the post, then he scored another freekick off the cross bar. First half hatrick. He was only about 5ft2.

And I'm 32 myself and we have players from late teens to early 40s so 35 is fine.

We had our first league game Sunday just gone, we got relegated last season and are now second division.

We were 1-3 down at half time (we were proper horrendous too) but managed to turn it around in the second half and ended up coming out on top 6-4. Competitive league we have though.

Ah, Sunday pub football... 10:30am KO, frozen pitch, right back invariably puking up his hangover by the corner flag... then back to the home team's pub for sunday lunch and a couple of pints.

Belting.

Used to play Saturday afternoons but had to quit a couple of years back because of recurring ligament tears and tendonitis in my ankles. I'm like Jack Wilshere, but just not a **** (debatable). I'd love to get back into it but I'm turning 31 soon and the kids just run rings around me, especially since I'm about 3 stone overweight now...

Might join a vets league eventually.

I play in the Edmonton Sunday League, I don't consider myself to have had a good game unless I've been threatened with a stabbing or a drive by. Horrible lot.

The biggest problems are pitches and goalkeepers, our team haven't had a keeper for 2 seasons, you just don't find anyone that actually wants to play in goal at that level.

I did about 8 years at Hackney Marshes in the Camden Sunday League before I had the kids and moved to the West Country. Do miss it alot, despite the winter weather, and schlepping all the way over there on a Sunday morning.

@DEFchenkOE You are right about the goalkeepers. My team was incredibly lucky to have a couple of real good ones, and then periods where we struggled to find anyone to go in. The difference is immense. Any team with a decent goalkeeper and proper striker will clean up on Sunday mornings.

Haha pretty much, you can try play football but once it gets to around November there's really not much point as the pitches are generally garbage. Our home pitch is a 4g pitch which is good as at least we can play all year round, but without a keeper it's still a struggle even though there's some quality players on our team.
