XI vs Newcastle

---------------Hugo
--KWP---Toby---Sanchez---Rose
--------Sissoko-----Winks
-Moura------Lamela------Son
----------------Kane

Bench: Gazzaniga, Dier, Verts, Skippy, Lo Celso, Eriksen, Alli

I would love for Verts to make it back in from the cold though.

That bench makes me so happy and we still have a few injuries and other things to resolve as well before being full strength.

I'm thinking of the Poch 4-1-4-1 from a while ago...

Lloris
KWP Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Ndombele
Moura Lamela Eriksen Son
Kane

Subs: Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Winks, Skipp, Lo Celso
Have a feeling that Sonny will be introduced as a sub during the game just as hit match sharpness won't be the best, and therefore probably start with Winks in a 4-2-3-1.

Well that's that out the window.

Lloris
KWP Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Winks
Eriksen Moura Lamela
Kane
Bring on Son, Lo Celso and Dier.

I know injuries are a part of the sport, but something just isn't quite right with us. The amount of injuries that we've had this early into the season is ridiculous in my very uneducated opinion. It's not like they're freak injuries either, a lot of soft-tissue damage. It gets annoying as a fan, wanting to see us perform well but then constantly having 3-4 players unfit every week

This is what I think we'll see:

Lloris
KWP Toby Sanchez Davies
Dier Sissoko
Son Eriksen Moura
Kane

Subs: Gazza, Jan, Rose, Winks, Skipp, Lo Celso & Lamela

Not sure Dele will be risked for the bench but do hope to see him in which case Skipp is sacrificed.. Expecting to see Davies and Dier in this one, think they need minutes and this is a good opportunity to give them some. I think Winks and Lamela both rested for NLD as well, probably our two most injury prone players.

This is what I want to see:

Lloris
KWP Toby Jan Rose
Winks Sissoko
Lamela Lo-Celso Son
Kane

Subs: Gazza, Sanchez, Davies, Dier, Lucas, Dele & Eriksen

I'd give GLC an hour and Dele half an hour and if the game is sewn up get some minutes into Davies and/or Dier.

Sessegnon came with a hamstring injury
Dele has a history of hamstring injuries
Foyth got injured in a tackle on his ankle
Aurier punched a table

I think it's a bit unfair to call those injuries ridiculous tbh, I know you're insinuating that it's a problem we have within the club but I don't believe it is. Ndombele is frustrating but I'd rather us be cautious, there's no need to make this situation sound bigger than it is.

Think this is a bit of an exaggeration regarding this season. Dele is likely available after missing two games, Foyth has an ankle injury he picked up in a preseason game, Sessegnon's hamstring injury happened before he was Tottenham player, and it seems unlikely NDombele will miss more than this game.

Last season was a shame, but there was also some weird injuries in there as well. We also have/had some lads who are clearly just injury prone (Lamela, Wanyama, Dembele, Aurier, and even Kane) it's a risk you take in making signings and sport in general.

Not just this season either. They have the top sports science though so might just be luck.

Well, he clearly is

Have you seen us training this week? What basis are you making this assumption on hank? That he didn't start last game?

He might not start, but for me it is not clear that he isn't fit. Our england and france players had less of a break last season.

From Pochettino's press conference today:

Q: Giovani Lo Celso, is he still some way off starting?

Pochettino: I think Lo Celso is a situation that is not going to be easy. He was in extended holidays after the Copa America, he didn't have a proper pre-season and didn't train too much. Then signed for us after a week without training. He's training well but is still so far away from what we expect from him. We need to give him time. He was involved [on Saturday] and will maybe have the possibility to help the team in some points, but we won't expect too much from him. We need to not put the responsibility on him, only to improve and adapt himself with us and see. It's a natural process to learn and improve. In the moment he will be fit and deserves to play then sure he will have the chance like other players.

He's probably basing it on the fact that Poch said today that he is miles off where he's expected to be

I havent but Poch has. And Poch says he’s very far off.
