It doesn't matter about the particular personnel but we have to field our strongest possible team because the FA Cup is the only thing we can realistically win this season, so this game is absolutely crucial to us retaining any interest this season. Pragmatism is the key word.

.
What is our strongest team?
We play a different formation, back 4/5 and starting 11 every match so I dont think JM knows.

Assuming no one returns from injury

---------------Gazza------------
Aurier--Sanchez---Toby--Tanganga
----------------Winks------------
--------Lo Celso----Ndombele---
----Lucas-------Parrott-----Bergwijn--

Subs: Vorm, Davies, Dier, Gedson, Dele, Skipp, Etete

No way Troy starts ahead of Dele though. No need having Verts, Davies AND Dier on the bench, we rather need o be able to make changes up front.

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Alderweireld Tanganga
Skipp
Lo Celso Ndombele
Moura Parrott Bergwijn

Subs:

Gazza, Vert, Dier, Skipp, Lamela, Dele, Gedson

I know Jose has said that he doesn't think Parrott is ready but I'm choosing the team I'd like to see. Even if it's 45 minutes I just want to see if it makes a difference having a striker up top. If it doesn't work and he can't do it then that's fine and we move onto trying other things.

Interesting selection, especially with Skipp being in the team as well as the bench (presumably at the same time)

Not going to happen but I’d like to see this:

I’d prefer Sessegnon at LB and Lamela instead of Lucas but they’re probably unavailable/ unfit.

Not a great deal to choose from swuad wise, but I'd love to see skipp and gedson start.

Gazza.. Lloris will be still injured surely?

Aurier
Sanchez
Tanganga
Vertonghen

Skipp
Gedson
Winks

Lo celso

Stevie
Dele

Think lucas really needs a rest.

The idea being to rest Lo Celso and Winks, play Dele in the 10 and Moura at RW. Sess coming on late to provide crosses from LW. Skipp to show what he can do. Ndombele to put in a shift.

Sessegnon is back and no word on Lamela in the team news. Both on the bench would be good options to have.

Sessignon is not any kind of left back, and unfortunately he proves it every time he's played there.

.

He hasn't done great but to be honest our options at full back on both sides aren't particularly inspiring. Davies was talked about as some kind of defensive saviour whilst he was injured but he's nothing special IMO.

Suggestion is that Parrot will be on the bench, Gazziniga to start as per above. Lamela expected to be involved but Jose suggestion that there is no guarentees.

Used suggest way too much in 1 or 2 lines :D

I just really do not want 3 at the back. I want the inverted left back and leave crazy bollocks to bomb up and down the right with the left back tucking in on the other side. That's all I really ask. And for Winks and Lo Celso to be in the centre, the rest I'm not really arsed about.

Wouldn't shock me if it was something like this:

Gazzaniga
Aurier Alderweireld Sanchez Tanganga
Winks Lo Celso
Gedson Alli Bergwijn
Moura

I think we need to be a little patient with Ben. He was out for some time and it can take a while to re-acclimatise to the full pace and physicality off first team action, but you're right as far as needing to improve our full back options on both sides this summer. Ben needs a left back to support and cover him so that role can be properly rotated to ensure the best performances for most games.

I don't know what JM wants do with the right full back position. Aurier is fine going forward but as far as defending the massive space behind him, he too often goes missing which means the centre-backs need to cover his arse (which means they have to leave their own spaces unattended, which leads to obvious problems.

Maybe we shoud be looking to recruit a dedicated right full back to back him up and do not much more than to defend, but who, I have no idea.
