Martin Tyler summed it up. He said 'think of the players city can now sign they are in the champions league'

We had our chance and our board and management blew it. We signed gallas aged 33 on a free and a bargain van der vaart. Simply a lack of ambition by the club and we deserve it. We had some good nights in Europe but we have ultimately went backwards and will now struggle to compete next year.

Problem is, you have to be able to compete with the wages too, CL football isnt enough for on season. We can not offer more then 100k per week, whereas others can. So whilest CL football is an attraction, it is only half of the story.

Yeah, all those players that quite clearly wanted to come to Spurs, and all those clubs willing to sell players to us.

Oh wait.

FFS. Get a grip. Do you think we twiddled our thumbs when trying to get a striker? Gah!

Yeah, it will make a massive difference to City's spending power. :-?

You know how much money they have right?

Ha let's watch the business city will do!

With unlimited money.

Levy is cautious with his spending because we simply cannot generate enough to sign the kinds of players they do. That's why we're throwing our toys out of our pram about the OS.

Making 3 last minute bids in jan for rossi and co shows a lack of planning and strategy.

They live in a different world sadly. Woolley is absolutely right, when you pay market rates, like Spurs, teams are going to turn you down - players won't be available. When a club is willing to pay double the market rate, people are going to let them go.

He was probably pointing to the lure of joining them, which is far greater if they are in the champions league.

Not so much in their case. There are very few players who would turn down the kind of wages they can offer, with or without CL (Kaka was one, any of Barca's top players would be others, for example).

Harry has took us pretty much to where Martin Jol got us - Jol would of got us to champs league if we had our players weren't poisoned.

we've never, I repeat NEVER replaced Berbatov when he left. What we did right after that was pure shite, signing Bent who doesn't fit, Pav who fcuking cant play, not to mention Keane and Defoe back. ffs.

I'd say it's a good 80:20 in favour of wages as opposed to European competition. Yeah, you can't be Stoke City, but at the same token, if you're getting offered £150k plus, where are you going to go? And where's your agent going to make you go for his 10%? Eh?
