Yes, good to see an actual all out sprinter win the 'sprinters' jersey despite what sagan achieved being amazing, Aslo phenomenal to see Pog climb up to receive his jerseys, is that the first time someones won those particular 3?
Yes. The white jersey debuted in 1975, and has been won alongside the yellow 5 times. But none of those took the polka dot as well.

Giro d'Italia starting tomorrow. Difficult to see past Thomas/Yates (S)/Kruijswijk for the GC. Sagan goes again for Bora.

Thoughts?

Can't wait, my favourite grand tour, would love to see Thomas win and you'd think he's got a good chance with all the time trials but Kruijswijk will be eager to impress after missing out on riding at the tour, will be entertaining for sure!

Not on free to air here this year. :(

Will get Liege - Bastogne - Liege though on Sunday.

Yep, the time trials are stacked for Thomas and he went well at the Worlds. Will be interesting to see how he does going uphill though. Suspect Jumbo will try to isolate him a la Bernal and he always has one bad day in him. Not really seen much of Yates this year so don't know what his form is like.

spot on, good that there’s 2 british favourites, haven’t looked closely enough at the starting lists yet, are there any outsiders in the likes of Kamna or Martinez that could have an outside shot at GC?

No Kamna or Martinez but I wouldn't discount Miguel Angle Lopez. He's nominally supporting Fuglsang but I think he could end up leading Astana, especially with the early summit finish on Mt Etna on Sunday. Can't get excited about Zakarin or Nibali.

Looking at team strength no one really looks like they will dominate. Ineos look strongish, but with Dennis, Ganna and Swift they might struggle high up. Jumbo Visma don't have their A team, but will still look to control. Astana could do anything, as they seem to be the only team with two potential leaders.

I think it's going to get really fractured and difficult to control. Really looking forward to it!

Yeah just had a look at the line ups myself, i think there’s a good chance MA Lopez will take the lead of his team and maybe even the race early on but with the amount of TTs and that monster last week where each stage could almost be a classic in itself i can’t see him mounting a serious challenge. I think an eye should be kept out for wilko kelderman, dark hose for a top 5 finish in my opinion

Well Lopez didn't last long. Hope he is OK, that was a brutal crash.

If I were Thomas I'd be very happy with that. It's clear that none of his rivals are going to match him in the TTs, so they will have to take back about 5 minutes on the course just for parity. Good TT from Yates, disappointing from Kruijswijk and Kelderman.

Yeh, I'm really pleased for him. He must have been in a pretty dark place the last week. Also becoming a bit of a Hirschis fan, I like how he just looks at Alaphillippe and thinks: "yeh, I can do you any day". That's going to be a rivalry to watch over the next few years.

Huge shame for G today, amazing grit to cycle through a broken pelvis however, yates disappointing aswell-not sure on the reason why, arguably makes it a far more open and exciting Giro thiugh, who knows, maybe Klederman could be a bit dark horse after all

Yeah, gutted for G. Was out this morning and tuned in with 30km to go just as he was being dropped. He rode through a broken pelvis at the TdF some years back but he was a mere domestique then. Has he pulled out?

I was concerned about Yates' form, hadn't seen him ride much since the restart. He's not completely out of it yet though, the two TTs should see him claw a couple of minutes back but it's hard to see him winning from here. This is wide open now.
