My guess on Schneiderlin is that Koeman threatened to resign if he was sold.

My guess on MM is that Villareal have said they want a few mil more, but not to share it with the partners. I.e. we won't sell at 35% of £17m, but if we offer another £5m or so, that they can keep to themselves and not share with the other rights holders, then it's a deal!
I'm not sure that is allowed tbh. I personally don't think we will get either player. Money talks.

Regarding Schneiderlin: The Goat hears that we bid exactly what we were told he would be sold for. It's Southampton moving the goalposts here.
Sounds right but probably the amount was quoted before the Liverpool and United transfers. Bit like a whore offering it for £10 then getting a sugar daddy paying her £100 and then thinking that everyone is her sugar daddy.

could save us a bit of the fee assuming others do blink first, certainly wages but then whats the value of lost points in August? slow acquisition and integration in key positions is often proven costly come the last day, gd or single point off the goons final tally...

Yeah, my take is about the same.

I think Southampton *would* have taken the lower figure originally quoted to us, but a combination of fan pressure and Koeman going nuts made them reevaluate, so they've found a different figure they think we won't pay.

For MM, I reckon we'll pay the figure currently on the table late in the window, Villareal apologise to their other rights holders and say "we did the best we could". Then, magically, surreally, we end up playing Villareal next pre-season and in some bizarre set of circumstances beyond human comprehension we forget to keep any of the gate receipts, allowing them to mysteriously appear in Villareal's bank account.

Good. We don't need him.

Save the money and buy the centre back. We desperately need one of them...

Either that or loan Vilareal a player or two at a nominal loan fee - gives them more 'value' than the other rights holders but via a second unrelated deal

Or could we not just also buy a second Villareal player for a massively over-inflated price? Say £20million for their fourth choice keeper and £50 for MM. That way the third party owners would only get a tenner or so.

The Vorm deal is already being investigated.

I follow you to the last bit about gate receipts. A friendly at WHL is priced at 20 pounds, right? 35.000 people times 20 pounds is 700.000 pounds? Villarreal's stadium is far smaller. Not really the biggest sum of money in the footballworld, is it?

I don't get how it's being "investigated" when it's fucking obvious what was done. We overpaid for Davies and underpaid for Vorm to get a better deal. It's already well known what we paid for both. What are they supposed to find out, that we paid what we paid for him?

Utrecht made a complaint to Fifa. They pissed with Swansea (not really anything to do with us though).

Yeah but I'm saying they can make a complaint but it's either against the rules or its not. Everyone knows what we paid for both players, what is there to investigate?

Probably a West end show and dinner at the Ritz. I wouldn't mind being a fifa investigator, turn up collect your brown envelope job done.

Swansea are claiming it was part of the same deal as Siggy, and thus owe them nothing.
