Krajkar got a game when the month ended in Z, Corluka was on loan, having Pav on the pitch was like playing with 10 men, Pienaar was at Everton or injured, Saha and Nelson played cameo's. We didn't have RW cover last season, we've replaced Krankjar with Sigurrdson, we've replaced a crocked King with Vertonghen.

And Modric hasn't left yet.

So, apart from Ade not being announced just yet, how are we weaker? Huddlestone is getting back to fitness, Caulker is now in the fold, so our defence and midfield are, arguably, stronger than last season. Bring in Ade and we are, once again arguably, stronger than last season, particularly if you consider that Kane has every chance of being as effective, or more so, than Pav.

Before you say it, I'm assuming that if we keep Modric he will maintain a performance level at least on a par with last season, what with him being the model professional he's been touted as.

Yes, I am biting my tongue a tad here!

So whilst we may not have upgraded on players in the manner that Cheatski have, we also don't have their resources. Also look at who they have bought, if there's rhyme or reason behind their purchases it's way beyond my comprehension. The goons may have brought in two strikers but is that an upgrade on RVP? Suarez and Carroll weren't exactly an upgrade on Torres for Liverpool were they?

The opinion of some on here seems to go along the lines of identify player, make inquiry, ask price, agree price, re-agree price when goalposts are moved, pay price, pay bigger price when other team comes in and sod the financial consequences, slaughter Chairman/Manager/Player if they fail, identify different player, ask price, pay price, ad infinitum until we strike pay dirt.

Must be a few out their with access to the Royal Mint methinks, or they've cracked the art of growing money tree's.
We are weaker in our striking and wing positions. If AVB wants to rotate the squad we need backup for Lennon and bale. At the moment that cover is Townsend and GDS. it hardly inspires confidence. Especially when you compare it to our rivals. The striker position problems has been discussed to death.

We are weaker whatever way you look at it.

I agree with the majority of your post but can't get on board with this i'm afraid. Any time he has played with the first team he has shown nothing to say he would score as many goals as Pav who, despite his shortcomings, knew how to stick the ball in the net.
He's young and you never know. He may learn very fast. I feel we sometimes don't back our own enough. Not saying he would be a definite success but I like the idea of us taking a chance/risk on a player. It would be a nice Spurs things to do rather than necessarily buying in a ready-made. Hell, it's a human and decent thing to do, he said with post-Olympic euphoria and idiocy. Besides, it's the way the weather's going in the league so we need to get used to the idea.
