I wasn't mentioning him because I wanted him as our LB. I was using him as reference for market value

It's true what you say about how hard it would be for a welsh guy. That was not my point though. Even so, if Davies was english he wouldn't be in the national team, and the same goes if he were dutch.

Well the Dutch don't always play with a left back but given their current choice then I'd rather have Davies than Blind or Martins Indi. England despite going out at the first stage and generally having a weak team have had Cole who was for years an excellent LB and to a degree still is. Baines likewise has been an excellent LB PL level for years and with Shaw emerging they are pretty well fixed at LB and it's a shame they don't have similar strength of choice in other areas.
That said at this stage I don't see Shaw as that much better a left back than Davies though he has more pace, but they look quite close in what they can offer maybe different degrees of strengths and weaknesses in their games but stacked together they are pretty close. Neither are the finished item and given their ages and experience that is fair enough

I did though understand your point on prices and to that degree the comparative variance on prices shows even greater when you compare the cost of Shaw to the current suggested cost of Davies. There's a huge "potential" value in the Shaw price that is clearly not showing in Davies valuation. Time will tell how distorted those prices prove to be I guess
