I disagree, if we get a new 60,000 seat stadium and unlike the goons can achieve that without huge debt through sponsorship or other investment then we will have similar financial clout to Chelski without needing to be run as the personal play thing of a loony.

Even if that doesn't happen we proved in the first 7 months of last season that you don't need oligarch money to compete, what matters is how you spend it. 18 months ago Comrade Roman spent 75 mil on Torres and Luiz, since then we've bought Verts and Toon bought Cisse both for 9mil and I'd argue that those 2 are better in their respective positions having cost 57 mil less.

The same will be true this summer, to repeat the obvious Chelski and Citeh can't buy everyone. If Chelski buy Oscar I can't see them realistically buying Schurlle or Jovetic who would be excellent additions for us (just 2 examples).

I'd rather Dan Levy than Roman Abramovic, I am confident we will eventually overtake them and when we do we will be in a much better state as a club. COYS

Yeah a new 60k stadium has done Arse the world of good hasn't it?!

Get real only Chelscum or Shitty Investment will do. Otherwise we will never win one of the big prizes in football.

Exceptional point there, BC. Might be better for squad harmony and blooding youngsters in a better, more cohesive manner throughout the season. I would think if Smith does well enough this season if he's given the nod as back-up, we'll get a good price for Naughton who has already shown that he is a capable prem FB next summer.

I like both Naughton and Smith (particularly Smith) but just think Smith will be far more content to be an understudy as he's younger and Naughton's already had a year of EPL experience now.

This. I think its time for a £23M bid and get him in sharpish

Sorry, but I think the club is noticing current trends in football terms where the actual so called 'monetary value' of players is diminishing and all the worth is in the players contracts themselves. This is something that has been documented, is happening and will continue to do so. Players themselves will have all the power and it will be they, and their agents, that force the moves.

The club is surely ahead of all of us in terms of this and will do what it needs to do to both progress but at the same time protect itself as much as possible. I'm confident of this.

I'm going through the thread and getting to points in a chronological order, so excuse me if this has been posted later by someone else. Players will become cheaper to buy.

Just read todays smaller than usual thread and things appear pretty quiet. Hope DL has things in hand and we make our moves in the market sooner rather than later, but transfers can be complicated. Either way hope tensions in here decrease as turning on each other wont help anything.

One reason players have become cheaper to buy is because a lot of clubs bought them with loanns from the bank. Loans from banks are now harder to get, so competition to buy players goes down - and so the price of players.

Of course its not a uniform decline, and top players values will initally not fecline as the clubs bidding for them generally are the most wealthy not relying on bank loans, but over time these values will also decline,

But these changes will take years to really happen , initially changes of 5% or 10% maybe which are significant but not life changing

AVB was quoted as saying "no, no, no" and pretty much scoffing at Andy Carroll coming to Spurs.

So lets discuss Andy Carroll coming to Spurs for 5 pages. Seems like a good use of time...

Wake up and smell the coffee mate. It is not going to happen! Football just isn't that romantic anymore. Cold hard cash wind the fight EVERY time.

Refreshing hearing about Sturidge? What fucking planet are you on? The guy is average at best. If
We want to improve and finish in the top 3 them we need much better than a fucking jermaine Defoe replacement. NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Fryers?! What the fuck do to know about him? Who knows whether he will be good enough or not.

He will probably be shit like all the othe young hopefuls we have signed

Fuck mate, are you on downers?

I realise that it's the hope that kills you, but surely having some is better than thinking like this. Do us all a favour and don't buy a cat; poor little fucker would have no chance.
