I just prefer not, I like speaking opinion so better not to muddle

But more importantly... you can criticise me! (y) . What do you disagree with?
Bulletspur is old school - I feel - he’s one of the good guys (in my opinion). Appreciate he can spk for himself, but as he’s offline I wanted to fight his corner in the meantime. And Rebrab, I truly like your non-highlighted status. For me, it adds to the excitement etc. I ‘get’ stuff every now and then; the info is more important than the sender etc, etc.

I think considering the age of the incomings and potential incomings: NDombele (22), Lo Celso (23), Sessengnon (19), Clarke (18) we're trying to build a team that consolidates itself as top 4 team for the next five years and reaches its peak in 2-3 years in the hopes that City/Liverpool will have fallen off a bit by then.

It's pretty hard to imagine us making up 26-27 points to catch Liverpool and City next season, even if our signings hit the ground running.
I don’t agree with us not making up the points, particularly with Liverpool, with on real overriding reason, VAR.

They gained more than a few points from spurious penalties (I can think of 3 from Salah dives), and offside goals given in their favour, far more than went our way.

Add to that the likelihood that our squad will be fresher, with fewer injuries and better quality depth, a full preseason, no international competition sapping stamina and being finally settled at home, I can quite easily imagine that we’ll close the gap significantly.

It’s really not a huge stretch of the imagination.

This probably about right but if also say that we fell off a clifee at the end of last season due to the thinness of the squad. We were closer half way through, revisionist I know, but you'd hope we wouldn't decline so much over the last month's of the season.

Currently we havn't sold any of our big players, and our adding real quality to the squad - and that's real strength in depth.

This is not a case of wholesale changes and simply building for the future. This is a case of creating a quality 18 to choose from in the here and now.

Key players have had a much needed rest, and we'll finally have home advantage for a full season. Not to mention the boost to our mentality after reaching the CL final.

Think you're underestimating these factors that will surely prove really significant and see us push much closer than last season.

Lovn the rumours links and itk atm. Toby looks like he might be staying ndom done lo celso and sess looks nearly and all gone quiet with ce leaving. If danny decides to stay this could be a carlsberg window. And feels like we could at last be at that point we have all been taken about for years. The pushing onto the next level point...

Yeah, I mean you would think that it’s realised that the decline was, almost without doubt, due to the lack of depth of quality of the squad. All things going well I hope we will go into the new season with more confidence in this and less injuries due to the fitness and lack of fatigue in a squad with the benefit of quality in rotation.

I 100% agree with everything you said and I love everything we’re doing. We’ll be a lot better this season if everything comes off and nothing catastrophic happens.

I just think Liverpool and City are probably the two best teams in Europe at the moment. There’s no shame in the fact that it might take us a couple more years to catch up considering their financial advantages over us. Assuming we get everything over the line, it’s clear we’re building in an extremely intelligent fashion.

Heard Mickey Quinn on Talksport instantly dismissing us as title challengers as if Liverpool play a different sport to us. It really irked me actually as I think they really got the rub of the green last season with referees, hardly any key injuries and two ridiculously lucky late winners against us and Everton.

If the currently expected transfer business happens (Lo Celso and Sess in, Toby and Eriksen stay) I genuinely think we have the 2nd best overall squad behind city, with Pool edging us out to 3rd on first 11.

Absolutely no way they'd have survived the injuries to key players we had last season. If Allisson, Van Dijk, Salah or Mane missed 8-10 games each no way they get over 90 points. Mane just went deep into the AFCON. Let's see how he gets on. We were only able to start DESK in a handful of games. Their front 3 started all but a handful.

Closing the gap to City may be a different story (although I suspect this season will be more about the CL for them), but in my opinion now we've added some real quality in midfield we're not as far off Liverpool as many pundits would have us think.

Absolutely 100% spot on, great post.

If the deals come in the the ITK are alluding to then we have the following going for us next season:
-home advantage / new stadium from match 1 (one that we’ve already bedded into so can hit the ground running)
-no players starting the season with fatigue due to World Cup etc
-more stable squad
-no uncertainty about the manager
-vastly improved squad

These factors combined I’d say could be an extra 10-20 points! When we had our best team under poch + home advantage / no Wembley we came 2nd and got what was it 86 points! We dropped about 16 or so points from that when playing at Wembley with a shit tonne of tired and injured players AND no signings, it was a near miracle we came top 4 to be honest but now we have everything going for us so we can really push on next season.

Yeah, that one is wearing thin, a few people have cottoned onto that one this window.

Next it'll be you had no idea you were on SC :D

Wait this isn't youjizz? (Will be hard to tell if Sess and GLC sign)

I did actually think it was a player thread (Lo Celso) but if I have to take the ban stick so be it.

Looking incredibly likely at least 2 in one out this week. Get ready the defibrillators for all the net spend detectives.
Great news- maybe more of us can get pledging on the Transfer Rumours Pledge thread. It’s been a lean 12 months

I feel it would be of huge benefit to the thread if shitloads of you guessed Sessegnon and Lo Celso. Or any other combination of players we've long been linked with.

Oh and while you're at it, repeating the name of a player who's been linked with a move away will add just that final touch of shrewdness. The cherry on top of the cake so to speak.

There's no flies on you lot.
