Those last 2 games were when I watched him thats why I assumed its where he played most! Thanks for the insight though snarf you love that double Pivot don't you ;)

I think if played properly it can be the best option in midfield. It takes a ton of discipline, though. Especially being a club that many clubs respect in attack, it can really leave you susceptible to counters if the midfield don't have great communication and understanding.

We'd have a great trio to pick from, though. Paulinho/Dembele/Sandro were all made for the double-pivot in my mind and all offer just a bit of something different to make it work against any level of competition.

I'm really intrigued by the 4-3-3, though. I went back last night and re-watched our match at OT and was amazed just how different Dembele looked. His dribbling obviously was fantastic. He chipped in multiple tackles and the one he had on Giggs where he simply stood his ground and completely stripped Giggs of the ball was just a sight. But, the big thing that caught my eye was the passing. I don't recall seeing him move the ball along as quickly as he did against United. It honestly was a thing of beauty. He would pick the ball up and instantly play it off, usually to the wings, but with great precision. He didn't ping the ball around the pitch in the air (it's just not his passing style) but the way in which he kickstarted attacks was exactly what I would love to see out of one of our 3rd midfielders. The amount of times the commentator mentioned how our midfield was a class above or just completely bossing United had to be in the teens.

I'm getting off on a tangent and this is the ITK thread, but there was enough in that match to lead me to believe that Dembele can learn to be a metronome-esque player even if he doesn't spray passes in the air. He's got the quick mind to make it work and in that match he showed he has the ability to pull it off.

Yeah, that's true. I guess it'd depend on where Villa is playing. Either way, we're either a prolific line leading striker or a goal scoring wide forward away from having a fully functional 4-3-3. Oh, and possibly a LB.
I'm excited by the Villa news as much as anyone im just wondering is he going to lead the line or play as a wide forward! Snarfs right a left back is needed but there isn't any ITK linking us to any only that we might sell BAE!

The gentleman who said he's on the Ghaly path... Really? Wow, man, get over yourself.

I did. I erased my message and left. Yet, rather than accept that I went to cool down, you prefer to have a second go. Maybe stir the shit a little more. Post, don't post. Don't care. But if you do post, don't troll.

I have a long known worry about the Holtby deal and I let it get the best of me. Probably won't be the last time. Because at the end of the day, most sane people appreciate players no matter their effort (except Sol). But it only takes a small cohort to turn on them and turn relations very bad. And it only takes a series of bad performances for them to win out. So we'll see if the haters that exists (despite your disbelief) will find fertile soil with their bile or get knocked back.

And Ghaly is the best example of people turning on a player.

Motherfucker got his teeth knocked out working for this club. And had a moment of madness after the asshole brigade booed him relentlessly and threw a fucking piece of cloth and became an enemy of the state.

Personally i dont remember people booing him much before he threw and disrespected the shirt! Thats why people booed him! I for one dont think holtby would throw the shirt in a tantrum if he was subbed. So I cant see him going the same route as Ghaly!

It's pretty dickish really.
Every time you see him interviewed/quoted he seems too het up and overeggs the 'so happy to be here' stuff & he looked a bit psyched up when he came on a couple of times too. Maybe he needs to calm it down a bit and stop trying to prove himself all the time.

People mistake this overeagerness for passion but essentially it's a lack of control & probably stems from insecurity. It's like the kid at school who tries too hard to be liked.

It's quite possible that this was noted by AVB & that's why despite what seemed a promising start, Holtby hasn't been able to cement a place in the team or graduate beyond substitute appearances.

Hopefully, he can settle down given a full pre-season & integration to the squad. I empathise that it must've been hard for him to land in a squad of internationals & have to try and stand out & after all he's just a young man still; I have every hope that we'll see his true form once he's calmed it down a bit.

When I visited the training ground and spoke to security I was told Holtby is the first into training every single day....its a passion 100%, its how the Germans are.

I'm sure he's keen to impress but by no means should what he does against a bunch of kids put a label on his head.

So excited about the middle three in a 4-3-3 if we bring Paulinho in. Our options of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Carroll and Sigurdsson are as good as we could have hoped for really.

Rock solid but also capable of creating enough going forward. Each player offers something different, while possessing some of the skills of the others, which will be important when injuries occur.

Carroll is perhaps the only exception in being an all-out playmaker, but I actually think Carroll has the best vision in our squad and is one of the best technically. Besides, we can afford to have the luxury of a player like this when his midfield companions are two from Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho.

Average age of those six players: 23!

I don't think it was meant to be a negative thing I think what there saying is hes just marking his territory so to speak! He's not doing it to be mean IMO as he doesnt seem the type.

When my mate was a kid he was going to school in Islington. The spurs team paid them a visit and had a kick about with the kids. My mate was captain and had first choice of players, so he chose Greaves.
Greaves said - why did you do that?
My mate - You're Jimmy Greaves the best player in the country.
Greaves - You shouldn't have done that, Dave's gonna have the right hump.

Throughout the game Mackay kicked him all over the place. From then on he was my mates hero (even though he supported the scum).

And that is actually true.

If Paulinho does come then our midfield is going to be amazing - Sandro & Dembele are immense... then we have Siggy who we were starting to see the best of, Holtby will click and become a legend. that's 5 great players. We'll probably start the season with the regulars and the fit so possibly Dembele, Siggy and Holtby for the first few games with long term absentee Sandro and newie Paulinho slowly being integrated.

I personally love what Liverpool is doing. Maybe quantity right now but huge potential in quality.

As for Paulinho, the signs are looking good. You don't have to name names, but have you heard anything about us looking at other players in Brazil that we haven't openly been linked to? Just kind of curious.

It's one of the best midfields in Europe in my opinion. Not many can boast that kind of quality depth but also with a lot of youth. Dembele could be our oldest midfielder at 26.

Told you the other day Liverpool would be doing some good business. Not spent bucks but doing well and have bigger plans.

No just names you have heard of already in Brazil I'm only expecting one. But all the names you've heard have been scouted. Would love Bernard but don't see it happening.

The shirt is all that's left in modern football that fans affiliate with. Players who treat it with contempt deserve all the abuse one can muster. Ghaly was a prick of the highest order, and a damn average footballer.

You just don't get it do ya?
We don't like Bale cause he's too good.
We don't like Levy cause he's improving us.
We don't like Lloris cause he's too French.
We don't like Defoe cause he's one of our top all time scorers.
We don't like AVB cause he mumbles and is part ginger.
We don't like Tim Sherwood cause no-ones sure what he does and that makes us uncomfortable.
We don't like Parker cause he's too old.
We don't like Kane cause he's too young.

I could keep going but I think you get the point.

Because i have balls of steel, i will respond to your PM message about the "dislike". Seems that you just can't take it anyway.

Whether Defoe is, was or might be, our number fucking one scorer in the history of the World means fuck all if he ain't putting goals away TODAY. Fuck sentimentality, because sentimentality has won fuck all for any club.

Parker is too fucking slow to fit into a fast, high pressing team FACT. Oh and add Huddlestone to that list of bullshit you wrote.

Kane is as woeful a player that has ever worn a Spurs shirt since the mighty Ruel Fox entered the Holy gates of WHL.. But if ever we needed a player with no pace, stamina or close ball control then id' fucking highly recommend him.

There, that's why i put a "dislike" on your post. NO NEED to PM a reply.
