ITK has pretty much all been positive, media reports have been mostly neutral. If it wasn't for Moutinho/Leandro/Benteke/etc. we would all be pretty optimistic. But we've been hurt before, and each of those times started a lot like this...
But the vertonghan, paulinho and Adebayor deals also went like this. On, off, posturing, on, off posturing ...... Done.
If the deal was off I'm sure the Valencia chairman would have spouted off. And then I'm sure the bank and board of Valencia would spout off to the chairman and the 'back pedalling' would begin...... Again

If we are going for flying wing type fullbacks then you an understand why AVB would want Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele (with say McCarthy as cover) to contain other teams as we could be exposed defensively.

Yep it looks like the plan is to control the midfield and use attacking full backs to get into the attack with the front three. Sounds good to me.

All relies on actually getting a striker though. Please god, buddha, flying spaghetti monster can we get Soldado sorted today!

If coentrao does sign this could mean bae is off. This could save us a lot of money as if we didn't have bar's wayward shooting we could reduce the amount of ball boys at the lane by half....
Hope that bae is not a typo for Bale!
Fingers crossed it's just a keyboard failure

Dear fellow inmates,

At times like this we should try to remember what McMurphy tried to teach us before he was so cruelly lobotomised by the BSoDL everything is fine brigade. There is a wide world of possibilities, and more important stuff out there, and we need to try to keep some perspective.

So at least no-one should be wasting their time worrying about Arsenal signing Soldado.(we'll get him 'tho)

No, you should be worrying about Arsenal signing Suarez. (That's going to be a whole other dimension of nightmare).

… And united signing Fabregas, Chelsea signing Rooney, city signing all the players they already signed. FFS, you really need to get a grip. What kind of lightweight worriers are you?

Best wishes,
Greaves4FR (the wild-eyed one)

PS. What do you have two do to get a tart round here? A&C, aren't you in charge of smuggling them in? And don't forget a hunky one for hottie. My £25 contribution is belatedly on its way, and I know what I want it spending on.

sorry about the funny rating - am on my phone. will change for something negative when I get the chance. :woot:

Agreed.

This reminds me of last summers Lloris deal where the chairman was very vocal about the fee he's demanding. I'm sure it's all a front to show their fans he's doing the best for the club.
It all worked out in the end (y)

If I remember correctly, didn't one of the last bits of ITK say that talks are set to resume lunchtime today?

Will probably be quiet until then.

An article has just been posted in the Soldado thread stating that Valencia have removed all posters around their stadium of Soldado advertising their upcoming friendly vs AC Milan and replaced them with images of both teams crests instead.

Seems to add some weight to the ITK saying its close/imminent- however it could of course be totally coincidental.

Worth a read, if nothing else.

I don't think I've ever been so emotionally invested in a potential signing. Every bit of news, every morsel of dodgy gossip - good or bad - is ingested whole. If this transfer falls apart I too will fall apart :D

So it looks like Soldado may be happening. If so I think the whole Benteke debacle was a load of bollox. They aren't even close in terms of quality.

There is no way we would of been in for Benteke instead of Soldado.

I don't think we were really in for Benteke, I think they tried to use us to get a bigger move, I don't think we showed much interest so the agent angled it to get a better contract.

I was thinking about how Sol was being used to promote their friendly with AC and believe their chairman will want to conclude the deal before Sunday so that there's not constant questioning of why he is or isn't involved if he's still at the club. And the posters thing kind of confirms this for me

Can't believe you lot are falling for the Cointreau (whatever) ploy.

He's clearly a Trojan horse from RM. just you wait. Well sign him up, be partying like it's 1999, then, in the dead of night when we're all blissfully asleep, his belly will pop open and out will jump Perez and smuggle our Gareth away*
