JJ did say that if we get our top target manager everyone will be happy. That, for me, points to guardiola

Tbf that to me points to AVB- I think he'd be class.
I know im pissed at the mo but am genuinly excited about AVB. Although I'd take any of Moyes, Martinez, Blanc and Deschamps. I only draw the line at Benitez-anyone else I'm behind 100%.

People have found reasons to complain about Pep or Mourinho. No way to please everybody with this appointment. It's what I like most about Levy honestly, he doesn't care as much about being liked as much as he seems to care about making the right choice. And to be honest, AVB is a high risk, high reward sort of appointment.

If he repeats his Chelsea mistakes and we finish around 10th, the media will make us look ridiculous. But if the AVB we get is more of the Porto variety and less of the Chelsea, then this is a slam dunk hire. Regardless of how AVB works out, as a club we are walking a tightrope financially, we're at basically the maximum extent of our resources. Unless the rumoured new investment actually shows up, it will be exceedingly difficulty to improve on the 3/4/5th area we've found ourselves in the last few years (excluding Ramos).

His "mistake" at Chelsea was only being in 5th when he was sacked. He didn't drop below there. If that's where we are in March I don't think it would be terrible and it would still be a "slam dunk" hire. I don't know why people think he was sooooo bad at Chelsea. Di Matteo actually fell down the table once he started. I think AVB will be amazing for us.

JJ said plenty of negative things about Harry when he was in charge. He's been on here for a long time and strikes me as a fan that is also well placed within the Spurs set-up to share info. I really don't think he has any sort of agenda.

Apologies if that was taken as in anyway negative towards JJ. It's pretty clear that he is a fan of the club and I would never want to imply otherwise. But I do believe that his info is so good that he has to have first hand knowledge of what's going on. As opposed to say Aqkayid, who's information is clearly (and admittedly) second hand. I think if people assume this, it answers a lot of questions, like why JJ hasn't provided any info on AVB as manager.

I also think the club has to be aware of the speculation on the message boards, and it would be dumb of them to not work through that system as a way to shape perception among some of the most vocal and ardent fans. So even if it's just benign neglect, I think the club is likely at least somewhat aware of his role on this site.

I've said before that I have no interest in trying to figure out who JJ is, I just interpret what he says via the assumptions posted above. Obviously I could be way off, and regardless of the reason I heartily appreciate JJ's contributions to this forum as a general poster as well as ITK.

I'm pretty high on AVB. I was just using 10th as an example of what would be considered poor if we finished there this season. Obviously staying in that 3/4/5 range is where we want to be for this upcoming transition year. I would expect a slow start as we transition to a new manager, but hopefully a very strong finish setting us up for the following season.

I may not be sober but I'm not that pissed. Martinez would be a monumental afuckalypse.

I agree with the first bit. JJ's connection to the club certainly does need to be taken into account to an extent. I've said before that he has a lot more to lose by saying who the new manager is, compared to ITK that are one or two people removed from the club.

I completely disagree with your second paragraph. I don't think Levy and co would give a fuck about fan forums and consensuses...and rightly so. There's so much happening behind the scenes that the majority of fans will never gain an insight to, so our opinions are really only able to focus on a very narrow aspect of the club. Being more vocal about a particular proposed appointement is unlikely to even register with Levy.

On the off-chance that Danny bald boy is reading this....No to Martinez.

I don't think the Club listens to it. But the release of a bit of gossip every so often would go a long way towards shaping the discussion and keeping supporters from complaining too vocally. At the very least I think it would be a fairly resource light method to affect fan opinion.

And I agree wholeheartedly with the No Martinez line.

So Pep, Mega Rich Owners, Fighting our Way back into the CL.

When is Messi signing again?

Also has JJ been around at all? Maybe he has the problem some of us had, old bookmarks not working:(

Not having a go here buddy, but seriously - how hard is it to type www.spurscommunity.co.uk into the navigation bar and click on the 'login' button?

Surely if a big news conference announcing all our big news was imminent then we'd actually have to invite the media and we'd start getting a more consistent sense of timing from the various media outlets.

Also, wouldn't we want it covered by the most prominent football journalists, most of whom will probably only be available after the Euro final? For that reason Tuesday seems a good day - allows the media circus a day to demobilize from Kiev and ready to move on to the next big football story.
