Leandro/Villa........It'd be very irritating.

So much so that I might even set light to my nightie.
There was a quote from Villa earlier saying that he wanted to concentrate on the confederation cup with Spain before sorting out his future - finishes on 30th June IIRC. So much for that being done quickly!

Here is reference to it but I am sure there were quotes from him in the article I read earlier:

David Villa is putting thoughts about his future to one side until after this summer's Confederations Cup, but insists he is happy at Barcelona. Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with moves for the Spain international.

If this is the case then we're fucked. Proper fucked. By the time he gets his feet under the table, has a chat with Levy, then has a chat with AVB, then goes back to Levy to discuss the results of the chat with AVB, goes back to AVB to discuss the results of the chat with Levy.............It'll be fucking January.
No no... I dont mean we arent doing anything in the mean time... Just from a media spin aspect, how good would it look if Baldini's first signings were made to look like Villa, Leandro, etc... Rather than those coming in before hand.

Levy wants the adOF thing to work and look good, best to start on the right foot no? And by all accounts he will be in by weekend, so hardly a long wait.

Just want to say that there is no way on earth we are going to pause our transfers to wait for Baldini, can you imagine the response if after all the negotiating we've been doing we turned around and said right now fuck off and wait while we sod about with this Italian bloke who we might make DoF or we might not. Whatever, you just hang on until we're ready.
I suspect the response would be make like bradly wiggins (on yer bike)

No but they might hold off on announcements.

Wasn't verts announced a couple of days after avb was announced, might of been they wanted him to rubber stamp it but for my money they wanted to 'punctuate' his appointment

We were signing players without a manager/coach last year so I can't see any delay for a DOF. Baldini and Levy may be in constant contact anyway for all we know.

Baldini can add another perspective, new targets and various links. Still, it doesn't mean we won't try to negotiate and make good deals. Levy is not that stupid.

Think about this from Levy's perspective. If he is going to entrust his club to a director (this is a big move for him after Comolli, after all) then he can't afford to waste a pound, let alone millions on a player that the director doesn't want. It's a stupid investment. Baldini is building a young side at Roma. What if he hears Villa is bought and thinks, "oh, that's the opposite of the way I want to go" and decides to pass. I'm not saying Baldini wouldn't want Villa, but we don't know. We haven't been given right to talk to him, so I doubt such specifics are known. And after Juande, do we really think we're looking to get caught with our hands in the till again? So Levy will mostly likely wait until Baldini is sorted so he doesn't gamble with his money on anybody right now. We always see him as a bottom line kind of guy.......buying players before a DoF is installed is pure bottom line.

I wish the name " Carlton Cole" was censored, then I wouldn't have to keep seeing it on here everyday! :ninja:
It's not censored, but it's the alternate name for Carlton Cole in the same way that Vertonghen was the alternate name for Vertonghen last summer. So when somebody refers to Carlton Cole his name doesn't appear but Carlton Cole appears instead. So when you read 'Carlton Cole' it might refer not to the real Carlton Cole but to the substituted Carlton Cole. Either way, you are destined to be reading the words Carlton and Cole for a while yet.

Hope that helps.

Always makes me chuckle when that happens :D

Guys. The thing is that Rob did this years ago. Carlton Cole is translated to Leandro Damiao. That's why the link never goes away ;)
