I'd be more relieved if he signed a new contract and we signed players to complement him and compete with him. Whatever is going to happen, it'd be better to sort it out earlier in the window though.

So would I, but that isnt going to happen. He would have signed by now if he REALLY wanted to be here.

My post wasnt against him as a player, at his best he is by far the most creative player we have

But I don't think he has or will be at his best for us, maybe now and again but that is not the kind of player we need

My days, I'm going to love this place when Eriksen signs a new 5 year contract with us. I'll be hearing the sound of the reversing beeps for months. He's without doubt our most influential player, when he plays well we win, pure and simple.

Everyone agrees with that the key this season has been when.

The fact we've lost 20 games this season suggests that, while this may be true, it may well not be a good thing.

Think there’s a few parallels with us and Eriksen, and Liverpool and Coutinho.

Selling Coutinho gave Liverpool more focus on their 4-3-3 setup and where players played in that system.

There’s no doubt he’s quality, but selling Eriksen and investing in someone like Ndombele arguably strengthens us as a team.

I understand the logic but as you say it “arguably” strengthens the team although i’m Not convinced. Great player who I think was noticeable in his abscence on many occasions and I would worry that without a number 8 we would struggle to link play between the final two thirds.

Need a resolution one way or the other, it's been a 2 year+ saga hanging over the club. Ditto Toby
Which no doubt has affected his performances somewhat. Re-sign, then he can enjoy his football.

ITK about selling house means nothing to me. It could be he wants a bigger house? Or that a gooner moved next door and he felt dirty and wanted to move further away? Who knows. If he leaves, then we know why. If he stays with Spurs then we won’t know why unless he tells us in an interview.

I think Sissoko has done that to some extent but it's always a bit haphazard. IMO, what Eriksen needs is a CM who can take his man on or find him with a precise pass. LoCelso and Ndombele would both seem to fit that description. In an ideal world, we'd keep Eriksen and have him play the 10 role without having to drop deep to get on the ball and with players around him that draw tackles and free up space for him to work in.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s had that relationship with Canales this year at Betis who is a natural 10 whilst Lo Celso has started from deeper. Not convinced he’s being targeted as a direct replacement for Eriksen. I think it’s more just we need to add quality in central midfield. Reckon Dele is more likely to be first choice for that 10 position next season if Chris is to go.

Eriksen is a good player. But, Eriksen is not very stable. His top level (which he usually show against more poor teams) is great, but his lower level (which he often seems to show against the top teams) is nothing to brag about. Less space, pressure and less time make him a less top notch player. If we can get that much money for him as suggested, I don't think there should be any doubt. Especially with Bale in return. It might turn out to be a good solution. But if it turns out we just have to buy all kinds of talents and so called talents for these money, as an attempt to replace him and we are forced to build a new team, then I'm sceptical about it.

JJ is optimistic, that's all I need. Couple of new signings and most of our team not being tired from World Cup will be huge for us. Transfer pledges should help this great site too.

Nice itk from @JJetset there. He errs on the side of caution and obviously has closer links to the club than the other ITKs so if he’s positive then either we have a lot to look forward to, or he’s gone insane. I imagine it’s the former.

Though the two might not be mutually exclusive :cautious:

We will (would) spend exceptional
Funds on two signings together (at same time). There is some deals close, and confident will be completed within a quick ‘ish’ time.

We are going for it big from now on. Stadium and other commercial activities has put us in a brilliantly strong position, and within FFP. I have been very downbeat in past, but no more.

This is what I thought would be the case last summer in anticipation of the new stadium so I am absolutely chuffed we are doing it now, it's the logical next step and I think the club has been super surprised by the success of the stadium so there is bound to be a heap of optimism.
