The day I found myself pube deep in a hobo - sobbing as I blew a street vagabonds for anything that might be related to our transfers, I knew I had a problem

And that problem was that I really like blowing hobos.

:cautious:
Thought process "So Happy is a synonym for gay...gosh does that make me Hobophobic?";)

why isn't bale or his agent allowed to speak? is it because he wants to leave? if you look back at the modric saga the window he left, levy told him that he will not be sold if modric says anything to the media...

Modric spoke quite a bit if I remembered correctly, when he was with Crotia.

Just been listening to interview with sports finance expert Professor Tom Cannon on Talksport talking about RM and why Levy is wary of accepting their staggered payments terms. Very enlightening.

Said that staggered payments would give others the impression that we have loads of dosh and would worsen our future negotiation position,
When Gabriele Marcotti was doing his best to back RM and say that they were good for the money, the Professor knocked back his argument. Also said that Levy is far too smart to accept their payment terms as they would be be to our disadvantage. DL would not want to pay more to get less, he would want to pay less to get more.

He basically backed Levy`s stance on the matter as it made no financial sense to accept RM`s payment structure.

That's for posting that. From what the guy says I can completely understand why levy would want most of the cash up front.

I can't listen at work but does he say that to replace a player like Bale you need to be decisive in the market and have cash up front to get a good player from a decent team? being in a chain of installments helps no one replace the asset they lose.

Valdano told Spurs during the Morientes thing that they are buying a world class footballer, not a washing machine. Perhaps Real should remember those words during this saga.

No it's more about the fact that we will only get £25 m a year while the perception in the market will be that we will have a £100 m from day one.

He also said we would be in a weak bargaining position when borrowing from institutions as well, where interest rates are really high when lending to football clubs. Eg 14%. Obviously if we had all the money in one go we would be less likely to need to raise debt finance.

He said that there is difficulty in chasing down large sums of money when the player moves on during the payment period. He cited kanchelskis' move to Fiorentina from Everton as an example.
