totally right for him to stay where he is. We can't guarantee him games. Bit surprised Aarons hasn't take Sessegnon's route though. He decided to stay at FFC but didn't sign a new deal. Means he's in for a pay day and far easier to get out of his club. Very little risk seemingly as played rather poorly and is even injured yet still has us targeting him.

Norwich may have said sign a new deal, and we agree to sell you next year - thus making us lots of money. In the meantime, here's double yer money

best thing for him i would say

Common sense would suggest this, especially over joining Palace. On the other hand though how many times does a real shot at a starting RB position come up at a CL club? (assuming we still want him) Not a mention a much better chance at an England cap playing for us considering the competition in the position.

Expected it as a similar situation with Sessegnon last summer. Just got promoted, see how he fairs next season then go from there.

Bit of a shame, good potential and a position we really need now after arrival of Ndombele. We lost a lot of points use to defensive errors from RB.

Even if Aarons has signed a new deal, nothing to say we haven't been in contact and had friendly discussions with Norwich with a view to maybe being in for him next summer if he takes his chance in premiership...

If a player knows you wanted him back before he makes a bang in top division sometimes they remember that.

Best for him to stay at Norwich at least another season to develop and get some top-flight game time.

If it's true I'm sure they'll be a relegation release clause in there somewhere

Me: "Max Aarons is basically the next Roberto Carlos"
Goat: *bleats*
Me: "Max Aarons is 110% overrated and we should stay well clear"

'New deal' sounds like more money with some escape clauses - but not just yet.

So did we get a confirmed answer to the cryptic yesterday? Or was it just the squad and RB stuff A&C referenced?

Could work out similar to the Sess deal (if it happens).

If Norwich go down he’ll know we’ve been interested for quite a while and go in next summer for him.

Makes sense for him to sign a new contract with Norwich and get some PL experience before making a step up. It was always risky for us to get a starting rb that has no top level experience

And didn't go well for Sessegnon so I think Aarons can improve more at another club

Different situations for me as Aaron’s is a right back and Sessegnon was a left winger so more expected to provide more attack-wise.

Never thought we'd get Aarons (or Grealish) this summer following his promotion

Will be interesting to see if he's put a release clause in his new contract (either relegation or monetary value)

Never go full Zaha...:cautious:

Not yet. To be fair A&C said he'd be nice and give us a cryptic, he didn't say he'd be extra nice and actually give us an answer.
