Thanks Trix.

At least the ITK from Trix, Herc & JJ has all been positive and consistent that we are competing for top players, which it wasn't last year.

A bit worried that other clubs are interested in our targets, as previously we end up losing out. Hopefully the CL exposure has made us more attractive but can't help feeling a bit uneasy that we miss out again and left picking up scraps. Poch deserves to be backed this window with the players he wants (not saying he isn't or won't be).

Thanks Trix. As ever I'm sure that this is passed in good faith but the bit about wanting them in early but we are not at the top of the chain etc. is a bit worrying. Clearly things are not simple in the background but I can't ever read comments like that without thinking 'we're haggling and what we have offered either selling club or player isn't enough'

But hope I'm wrong obvs and I trust that this summer will be different

It's tricky as for the calibre of player we are after we are never going to be their dream destination and we can't blow other out of the water with wages so we need to either find a lower calibre of player (which we don't want to do) or wait to see if anyone else comes in. Bit rubbish but that's life.

Don't know why but I'm worried

Me too - this all sounds incredibly familiar. "Trying to do things differently this time...but things taking time...players keen but others interested"

We've been here before and I just can't remember when it ended well

p.s. obviously thanks Trix!

Don't know why but I'm worried

It's probably because it doesn't look like we've changed our transfer MO and in recent years that's led to an underwhelming summer.

However, as ITKs have previously stated, the profile of the club has massively improved and more players are willing to join us as their first choice club.

We've also got more money now than we've ever had in the past for a transfer window.

So I guess we'll have to and see how it all pans out...

Sounds like we're trying to get things done but in reality we're again waiting to be gazumped. I don't know how feasible it is but I'd like us to set some time limits on the offers we have in for players, and if the limit runs out we move onto the next target. Otherwise it just feels like we'll be scrabbling around at the last minute for whatever is left over. I'm sure we're offering good money but the players we're after will be on a lot of shopping lists, and maybe 'good' money isn't enough to get stuff done early.

Think you've kind of gone full circle with your post. (y)

I'm sure we're not waiting around to get gazumped. In the case of lo Celso, what if he's not willing to commit to any transfer talk until after the Copa America, but has insinuated he's very interested in Spurs.

Like you say, I'm sure many of the players we're interested in will be wanted by others, if said player chooses to wait, is it really is waiting to be gazumped. I'm not so sure.

Transfers are a very complex thing, and as we've been told numerous times, deals are being worked on. The groundwork if you like.

So much more to transfers than a simple cash transaction. We might well have heard some very positive responses from targets, but have been asked to hold fire for various reasons.

I'm of the thinking that those more informed and involved, will have a timeline to which they'd like transfer business settled by.

Spurs have financial limitations, but I don't believe for one minute they'd intentionally sit around waiting to get gazumped if positive noises had been forthcoming.

True, although we can be their 'practical or useful' destination; a very good stepping-stone club, that is both exciting and high-profile, which plays in the CL and has world-class facilities.

If an up and coming talent can crack it at Spurs, they can go on and have a shot at Barca or Madrid.

Also, there aren't actually that many clubs in the world that are 'higher profile' than Spurs now; probably 10 clubs tbh.

I don’t think patience is a Spurs fans virtue...especially when it comes to a signing! ?

Here's hoping the stadium, commercial deals, and getting to the CL final have indeed been beneficial for making us attractive. Of course we think they are great, but I also hope the athletes themselves value those things. And of course - wages, wages, wages. Maybe we can pay our current stars and new recruits what they deserve as well.

Thanks Trix. I assume that progress has also been hampered by targets being on international duty and unavailable for discussions. For me, I will only start getting concerned if nothing much has happened by the time pre-season training starts. Only way to be right now is optimistic, given the comments of mutliple trusted ITKs

I don't believe this until they actually join us.

Can't disagree but it's the optimism/pessimism cycle every Spurs supporter should be all too familiar with. One minute I'm confident we'll pull off something spectacular and the next I'm overwhelmed with deja vue.

Yep, sounds the same as normal to me. This time Poch though will have to accept B or C on the list if we can’t get our first choices, else we’ll be getting nobody in again and that just won’t do this time round I’m afraid.

Thanks for the info Trix. I am getting a little bit of "World Cup Deadline" deja vu reading it, but hopefully it turns out better. Last year, when nothing was done by the start of the WC, I started to worry. Hopefully GLC and TN'D can get completed in these next two weeks because the longer they drag out, the harder they probably become. Sounds like the one key difference this year than last is that the players involved are keen on us, whereas last year we seemed to be seen as a second or third option for the players.

Bale was always going to be a late August, miracle type transfer so not too fussed with it. The two big midfield names are what will define this and perhaps our next few years forward in the market as Poch can't be too happy if he doesn't get his targets for a second straight year. This seems to be the moment and hopefully it will work out the way we all want.

It’s nice to get some ITK noise about our intentions after the horribly barren weekend. I’m looking at this as a positive- especially the section about the players bring keen to come to us. Hopefully that reflects agents are happy too

Let's hope this pans out for the good, we should be appealing to players now as long as the numbers are right.. but 20 times bitten, 21 times shy...

Thanks trix.

Still think this time next month we still won't have signed anyone. Just can't see us getting a big deal over the line soon.

Oh, I totally understand. But I'm clinging to the positive ITK stating that we will have a decent transfer budget.

Add to this that we seem to be linked with a better quality player this time round, plus hopefully some encouraging feedback from players, along with the fact that hardly any transfers of note for any clubs have been conducted thus far this window.

Conclusion, at present, it seems like we're in the mix along with others. Can't really do much more than that until money sees us fail

But again ITK seems positive, so that'll do me for now.
