Here, have another thread.

This one is for ITK given AFTER the thread was created. I mention this because the last couple of updates have made people think guessing games are in fashion again. They aren't.

Yesterday, Mrs A&C told me sex is even better when on holiday.

Not the kind of postcard I was expecting :(

The next two weeks will hopefully define this summer's transfer window. We want them in early and have certainly been looking to do just that. Problem is these are all players wanted by other clubs, and unlike Madrid we are not at the top of the food chain, so things innevitibly take a bit longer. We have been working on the players in question though for some time, and I'm told are all keen on a move to us. The names this time round are pretty much already out there via the press, so I expect little as far as surprises are concerned.

Bale's agent and Madrid are in a stand off, a case of who blinks first so to speak. This does not mean he's coming to us, others interested, but I would not rule it out at this stage. What is for certain though is no one ATM is willing to go near paying what it would need to get him out of his Madrid contract.

There's a couple of other bits hopefully I can post a bit latter.

Cheers as always Trix!
I can’t remember if it was you or Herc (if not both) that more or less shot the Bale rumours down a few weeks back so seems a bit more positive regarding that possibility.

Thank you for the info. The information has all been consistent and in level. I think we all know where we stand but getting the work done early sounds like a key. Especially this summer of all windows.

Thanks Trix. As ever I'm sure that this is passed in good faith but the bit about wanting them in early but we are not at the top of the chain etc. is a bit worrying. Clearly things are not simple in the background but I can't ever read comments like that without thinking 'we're haggling and what we have offered either selling club or player isn't enough'

But hope I'm wrong obvs and I trust that this summer will be different

Thanks @Trix. It's a difficult one with the proverbial paying the extra 5m to get them through the door ala Liverpool's method or just sitting tight and hoping it works out at a level we want. Add to that GLC playing in the Copa America and RM possibly having other priorities over CE right now and it gets even trickier.

Hopefully we have the right risk and financial assessments with regards to Pick A vs Pick B and the players are right if it does fall to Pick B/C and so on. So far I think everyone looks at GLC and Ndombele as the right players to drive us forward from midfield (no pun intended) and hope it gets done. If we start falling down the chain/list, those views and plans may start to get distorted. Say for example it ends up being someone like Bruno Fernandes and a Lobotka, that changes the style of play drastically.

Although Bale would be great, I view that as a complete luxury right now. Centre midfield is the most important area of a football team, it is absolutely vital that we use this opportunity to assess the players correctly and get the right one's in.

Bale would be an amazing addition amongst others. Am hoping, for once we actually get our targets and we can wait and see how bale pans out

Sounds like we're trying to get things done but in reality we're again waiting to be gazumped. I don't know how feasible it is but I'd like us to set some time limits on the offers we have in for players, and if the limit runs out we move onto the next target. Otherwise it just feels like we'll be scrabbling around at the last minute for whatever is left over. I'm sure we're offering good money but the players we're after will be on a lot of shopping lists, and maybe 'good' money isn't enough to get stuff done early.

Thanks Trix. If we do business early, then we know its a new era. Hopefully, we'll be seeing pictures of Mauricio with his arm around 3-4 new players and one or two existing players who have a pen in hand in the next several weeks.

So we are going to sign..........(quickly stop myself from making a list).

I know we have kind of been here before and I usually take all ITK as a bit of fun and don't get overly excited, with the frame of mind that if the positive stuff happens it would be nice but things happen. Always appreciate yourself and others sharing all you can

this year it all feels a bit different and I am getting far too excited. I am a grown man FFS!

I hope we really do push on this transfer window as I haven't felt this way in a long long time.

Thanks Trix.

Hopefully we can repair some trust in our recruitment strategy/team and get some cracking busy done this summer.

Also, would imagine the Bale scenario will drag on until August. We just have to put it to one side, do our other recruitment and if there's a chance to bring Gareth back to the club late in the window, then brilliant; if not, then no worries since we got all out other targets in.
