Horrible news.

Still don’t think anyone will pay what it takes given the levy tax, the length of his deal, the England captain tax and the fact that after two injury hit years he’s no longer the hot property on everybody’s lips.

Nobody is buying Kane for what we'd want for him - especially with him being basically guaranteed two months out around January time.

can't blame him. we're a rudderless ship right now and there's no sign of levy/enic ever investing what it'll take to get us really challenging on a consistent basis. he deserves to win stuff and we're a million miles away yet again.

Only people I feel sorry for will be all those girls and boys who idolise him. Watching your favourite player leave and not understanding it fully. What a wrench it is if it turns out to be true.

Football really is bollocks some times.

Seriously can anyone on here see Levy selling him next season, with long contract happily signed?
This time next year maybe, if he keeps himself fit, Levy may not have a choice if he wants top money for him

He could have at least give Mourinho one more season. So hard to believe he is throwing in the towel and call it quits.
I think the rebuild is bigger than that, if we buy as we did last season we won't be challenging for top 4 at all. Kane doesn't have two years to wait for us to catch up.
The logic behind the Jose appoitnment was to secure instant success to keep the likes of Kane happy; and unfortunately our rivals have surpassed us and the clubs who were below us have pushed on.

So if nobody is prepared to pay what Levy wants, Where does that leave us? We're going to build a new team around our talisman player (...who just happens to not want to be here)?

As said earlier maybe Kane will act differently than other players who have been priced out of a move, but it's just prolonging the inevitable if he truly wants to leave.

I really hope so too mate. It sounds mad, but Kane is Tottenham. He is the home grown, Spurs supporter who has worked his way to the very top. He epitomises everything I loved about our Pochettino side with their hard work, steely nature, and will to win!

For us to sell him, then it would signal the end of ENIC for us, and things could get really nasty I believe, if Levy sold Kane & then only spent £75m in trying to replace the 7 players we have lost since that Poch side in: Rose, Walker, Vertonghen, Dembele, Wanyama, Eriksen & Kane.

Last thing, if Kane goes, then say goodbye to Sonny.

Completely agree with all of that mate but I'm going to try and look at it from the other side of the coin. Levy is in a position where we didn't cash in on Eriksen and that turned horrible and I wonder if that gives him pause in terms of making a difficult decision. Maybe he feels with Kane having injury problems that if he can get a large sum which can give us the ability to rebuild in a huge way the same way Liverpool did that it will be worth the ire of the fans in the long run. Problem is with that train of thought that Fee's for top quality stars are not what they used to. How many players could we realistically get, 2/3 premium players at best? is that worth the risk?

as I say my opinion is the same as yours, I'm just trying to make sense of all perspectives.

If Kane is to go, I don't trust the money to be spent effectively and I'd rather start the rebuild with a manager that's going to potentially be here in 5 or so years still working with the players he's picked.

Wouldn't surprise me if he fears Kane is one injury away from being next Michael Owen or Falcao. I think we'll keep him for another season, hope he does well and increases his value then Parott would hopefully be ready to replace him. Edit: Maybe 2 more years, wait for new Sky TV deal to increase prices and sell.

Bearing in mind we had to pay TND 200k a week to get him then I think you are right - 2 or 3 max.

Nah I understand that, and it is a view that potentially needs to be taken at some point. Every year Kane gets a bad injury and potentially the next could ruin him as a player. The only nagging bit in the back of my brain is whether or not Levy would sanction a £400m spending spree (say we got £200m for Kane).

I think we are looking at those sort of sums before we could be seen as a Top 4 side again in my opinion, especially so without Kane.

Agree, there is hope in the fact he is Spurs. Here's hoping for one more season to see what we can do/are willing to do.

For me a lot's being made of his injuries. Yes he's had a bad couple of years but he's played a lot of games for us and England. A top (and i mean top) team with options will use him properly and will ultimately i think he'd do extremely well. He's been worked into the ground by us due to a complete lack of a plan B.

Harry Kane has spoken to DL, after the THST release. He is itching to be allowed to leave. Not sure DL will allow that. Hugo wants MLS.
I hope he does leave, he 100% deserves success and that isn't going to happen at Spurs for him.
He's been very patient with us and i'm sure he's turned down many offers from super clubs to stay loyal to us and he's always said if we show ambition and look like we want to win things then he will stay but he's not mug he can see what a mess we are and how far away we now are from where he'd like us to be.

Sad state of affairs. We can only hope that if/when we do sell him that we re-invest the money properly like Liverpool did with Coutiniho, if we truly still have no money then this could be a huge lifeline for us, really not surprised that HK wants to leave at all.

Kane leaving would be hard to take, but I can't blame him for asking considering the current state we are in. Hopefully the fear of losing him will make Levy step up more in the summer than previously planned. You'll never get that mega naming rights deal without the club superstar. Stick or twist Levy.

If he went to another English club I think I'd be done with football for a few years...
