I'm new on these forums, and not sure where to post this, but here goes.

I've been working for a City law firm which deals with football matters on a regular basis for a couple of years, and have colleagues and acquaintances tied in all over the place.

Thus I have some gold info about the coming week. It's not going to as earth shattering as some has claimed, but some good news all the same. AVB will finally be unveiled, as the first big announcement. Verthongen saga coming to an end as well, with a finalisation expected nearer the weekend. NO takeover or other big investment news around the corner the coming week. And Gylfi is going Liverpool.

Hello everyone, been on holiday and things seem to have gone a little mental whilst away.

I found out tonight that LFC made a last minute increased offer to Gylfi today. Still not as high as its believed the Spurs offer is but higher than the contract he agreed at Swansea with Rodgers which is all we were willing to offer him until today. This is off our best lad so I believe it 100%

No idea if it will make any difference or not. The main influence here is some Barnett fella (I think thats his name) who is his agent and obviously wants him to take the higher offer which is fair enough I'm told by an Icelandic journo whose familiar with them and said his family, inparticular his Dad, is not 100% happy with things as he has so much respect and faith in Rodgers.

Thats all I know upon getting home but I would say this is still not finished 100%. Told it will be finsished tomorrow as Hoffenheim gave him a deadline. No idea where he is going to end up but hunch says Spurs as LFC offer too late to prove anything. FSG tried to play poker and lost.

Saw a lot of people on twitter bad mouthing his agent, saying he is all about the money and trying to make Sig choose the most money regardless (but what agent isn't like that eh)

I still don't get how we are supposedly offering more than yourselves, especially when the crap coming out of rawk is we offered him £70k per week which is what our top earners last season(adebayor or Modric) where getting. He is no where near that bracket at the moment.

I still don't get how we are supposedly offering more than yourselves, especially when the crap coming out of rawk is we offered him £70k per week which is what our top earners last season(adebayor or Modric) where getting. He is no where near that bracket at the moment.

I agree, it just doesn't make sense. I can't see us offering more than £45k a week for him to be honest. If Liverpool weren't offering at least that much they weren't really being serious with their pursuit.

And it clearly is not about the money for this guy, he was willing to go to Swansea, and they clearly were not going to pay what a Spurs or Liverpool could afford. It's not like he had his agent whoring himself out to every club after the season was over. The Swansea deal didn't fall through until Rodgers left, where it's completely understandable that a player would change his mind after a managerial change. Wherever he ends up, I think it will be where he feels he can have the most impact, has the best chance to develop, and have the most fun as a professional. Which can't really be said about too many players any more, so I really hope he signs up with us, seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
