Ali Z over on Coys said that we are definitely interested in Depay as Rodriguez is not available, he also went on to say he hears Musacchio is close to completion.
Has he given comment on Lascelles considering he was adamant it was done?

Not bashing, just curious.

Whore.

Depay info gathering. I do like this news. I think he's an excellent player with potential to be even better. Will also compliment what we have already. Depay, Lamela and eriksen has great variety and balance. Sexiness.

I think he said he assumed lascelles was a backup to Dier in the end, but that he heard it was pretty much done; didn't Lascelles start following spurs then unfollowed us all of a sudden? Maybe ali heard about lascelles but didn't Dier.

JJ mentioned Lascelles wasn't really on the radar and referred to the Depay stuff as a merely paper talk. I am not convinced we've given up on Rodriguez. Even it means waiting until January. We knew he wasn't fit till October anyway.

If he's out of contract next summer it would make sense to sign him in January. Gives us a chance to see if he recovers, he'd be cheaper and we save 4 months wages.

Re Mateo Musacchio "Hearing this is very close and we expect this happen quite quickly"

Re Depay "Deffo some truth in this, Saints have told us we deffo not getting both so looking at alternatives, not saying it is going to happen but it could."

I agree, but the only problem is that there would be more competition for his signature in January.

I understand what you are saying, but you know, they are earn far to much money, far to much.

And there is whole lot of difference between you taking a poor job, and pro footballer taking a poorer job and still earning £50,000 a week.

I am sorry, but they are on a whole different planet and it is certainly not planet real world. Their careers are more or less over by the time they are 35, but they have millions in the bank to do what ever they want, live where ever they want, send their children to best school...

Not like the rest of working population that have to work, some times beyond retirement age earning minimum wage to put food on the table... or some cases... to scared to work, because they are so poor they could lose everything they have if it doesn't work out, especially if they have learning difficulties.

So yeah, I completely disagree with you. If the club has accepted offers, they should get the best deal they can and move on, especially if it means they will get a game :)

The whole football industry runs on a business model unknown anywhere else on the planet.

According to Gazza, we agreed to pay him £2500 a week when he signed for us (we also agreed to buy his mum and dad a new house and a Beemer, and his sister a sunbed). That's £125k a year, when the average annual age was a little less than £14k. Today, a player of his quality would earn considerably more than that in a week, when the mean gross income is roughly £25k a year.

You can complain all you like about it, but until one of two things happens things are only going to get sillier; either the authorities really clamp down on club spending (sure they will!) or an overwhelming majority of fans figuratively vote with their feet—that is, give up their Sky subscriptions and season tickets (fat chance!). And really, is it the players' fault if clubs wish to pay them insane money?

You're also ignoring or forgetting the economic argument. To take an admittedly extreme example, Gareth Bale earns Real millions in shirt sales and image rights, never mind prize money and incalculable but very important brand recognition; does Joe Bloke working for, let's say, the local car workshop, contribute anything like the same percentage?

But, mainly, it makes me laugh that people will turn on players who decide they want to move on, but slag off those who want to stay when the club wants to offload them.

Need to count themselves lucky they're not in any of the leagues in the States. Unless you have a no-trade or no-movement clause negotiated in to your contract, the team can send you anywhere they well please.

Yes. Players are no longer regarded as chattels in Europe.

Try thinking about it from a more holistic view, ie the players side.

Rather than looking inwards from outside as us fans always would, looking at the club, you need to remember these players it's their livelyhoods at stake here.

I know they are on ridiculous money, so the problems you and I would face don't really compare, but players rely on contracts and a certain salary.

Put that to run of the mill Joe - or me for example. I'm doing reasonably well in my particular industry, I work for a decent paying company, the company perform well, and I am getting some industry recognition - nothing spectacular, but moving onwards and upwards in the world.

I hear that the new boss doesn't like me that much, or feels that I'm not right for the business vision.

What do I do, just jump ship to a shit company on less money, even shorter contract, or fight it out, believe in myself to show the new boss that I am right, I'm happy with my current package, I like where I live, my wife and kids are settled in the area and the school's great...

Now apply that to the footballers - who all have the same problems (just on a very, very different scale).

(I appreciate not everyone will like or even agree, but I'm not here for ratings, I post my opinions on matters that are being discussed).

We are paying Dawson way too much.
