No, not to this extent mate. This case isn't that simple that it can be logged in even with the trend of modern football. The sheer velocity of this club's meteoric rise is dwarfed only be the stunning rate at which it's now deteriorating. This couldn't have been expected a year ago, and it's consequently why so many of their fans have trekked over here and other Spurs boards to express their pain.
Meteoric rise? Southampton?

Ffs.
Stunning rate at which it is deteriorating???

Fuck me.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I know right some pretty entertaining extravagant language yeah?

But do you disagree with the gist of it? If so, "fuck me :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:"

For you:
Mate... try administration five years ago, League One three years ago, and now to 8th in the Barclays Premier League a year after buying starters from Roma, Lyon, and Celtic. Come now my good man, be reasonable.

Yeah, they got in a bit of a mess but they are traditionally a Prem Club so to me them working there way back up over time is not really surprising. After the smoke has settled, Saints have a new manager and some shiny new signings they get with the Shaw/Lallana money peace will be restored. Thats football.

Haha sure bud, if you wanna simplify things to that level go right ahead. Doesn't matter to me.

The original point is that Lovren was justified in asking out of such circumstances even after signing a lengthy contract, but not justified in "striking." Arguing about anything else is simply a tangent and this isn't the place.

It seems to me that a lot of fans look back to a Golden Age when players stayed with their clubs season in, season out, showing a loyalty that just doesn't exist today.

Bollocks. They were tied to their clubs, with a £20 a week maximum wage until 1961. Once you'd signed on the dotted line, that was your lot. You were with the club for life, until the club decided otherwise. The clubs didn't always show much loyalty to their players, either.

Not to mention Bosman, which radically skewed power in the direction of players.

Actually the Mods are a bit more relaxed about the rules when there has been no fresh ITK, and I dont think we veered too far off topic. Nice attempt at changing the subject though ;).

Lol. The age old last resort of the thread-clingers: "you're changing the subject." Nah bro, I'm simply closing it because you clearly prefer to take a simplistic and overarching view of the matter while I prefer a manner of analyzing subjects on an individual basis. That's okay though, to each their own. Hope you enjoyed the game.
