I'd never heard of Paulinho til about 10 minutes ago (watched highlights), now he scored a goal and featured in my ITK update! A stellar rise to prominence!
His a solid player in my Dortmund team on Football Manager!

Re: Goat update.

I'm fully behind any revamp of central midfield, Sandro apart, be it defensive reinforcements or playmakers.

Saying that, any purchase is gonna need to be experienced if we're shipping on the rest of them. No place for a novice.

Mildly concerned that our late purchases might mirror last year. We have an appealing list of stars and Brazilians that might turn into Levy value packs if he's not careful.

Do we think this surge of interest in Brazilians is related to AVB's trip last year? If so presumably he is getting more say in transfers.

Anyway, AVB is a Portuguese. It could a bonus to attract Brazilian talents coming to us and utilize them
Let us have a thought experiment : Harry with Brazilians

What kind of player is Paulinho, mate? Never watched any of him (apart from tonight).

Great all-round midfielder good on the ball better defensively than going forward in my opinion but as you see tonight has an eye for goal. My Brother in-law is a massive Corinthians fan and raves about him whenever we speak. Would be great to get him just so I can take the piss.

Sorry I'm not great at writing up on players like some posters on here. But seen him live twice and loads on TV think he would be a great signing.

Would a midfield trio of Sandro Dembele and Paulinho have enough creativity? Never seen Paulinho bar tonight and was under the impression he was a cdm.

It could be attributed to that somewhat. But Paulinho is a pretty well-known/regarded talent. Bernard was a little under the radar but by the way people speak of him, you'd imagine that many scouting circles are aware of him.

Either way, if AVB's not getting a say in transfer dealings then Levy should probably just leave. AVB's proven that he has a vision in mind, and while some of the targets may be too lofty in terms of our financial capabilities, the ones within reach should be given full attention.

I kind of like the idea of throwing a big "fuck you" to Inter and just go out and buy Rodrigo instead.

If we sign Paulinho we better have a creative left forward and top striker coming in too.

Sounds a good player, good to see we're linked with internationals like that. Do you think that he'd fit in with AVB's style? Also, is he a good passer? We're really lacking some passing ability in that middle, IMO.

Bit of a strange update. Was hoping the Brazilian we are after is Bernard...

Doesn't sound like Paulinho could provide us with the creativity we are lacking in the middle of the park? Wouldn't be against selling Parker and Livermore and just bringing him in.

Rather look elsewhere for a striker than LD but hey ho.

He's a capable creator on the ball. He's got such great touch/dribbling. He's not a Moutinho/Modric, though. He's more of a penetrating midfielder, but his final ball is usually pretty awesome, whether it be a shot or playing a teammate into advantageous positions. He and Dembele would just ruin defenses.

Put it this way he isn't known for his passing from what I have seen anyway. But he can pretty much do everything you would be looking for in a midfielder and has a few tricks as well. Don't think he would come cheap 15 to 20 million I would think. And would need to get him quick before confederations cup.
