12. Lamela is not far off, and will be used in No. 10 role. Hope it works out for him, because if not Roma is calling.

13. Danny boy Rose is happy. No issues with him. Still think he may go amicably end of season. We promised him that. Key to that will be if he is upgraded in his contract, as all the ones we want will be. Don't worry about Toby. All good.

There you have it. No moaning please. Overall we done good business. COYS!!![/QUOTE]

Thank you so much for that Hercules - It really provided a wonderful insight into thought processes behind our transfer decision making. And thanks for all the info you have provided through the window it really made great reading.

Thank you @Hercules, any doubts i had at all have gone after reading that. We have people in place in our club that make that lot up the road look extremely amateurish at best. And to think we got one over on Chelsea makes this window even better. Thanks to everyone else who makes this site what it is. Will be donating more often.

Can anyone specify who the "pace" was referring to?

We heard at least 5 or 6 different names from different sources. Personally I think that points to a bit of a scatter gun approach once we lost out on our number one target (Balde). Most of these names were kids (U18s) playing in France/Italy, basically in the N'Jie/N'Koudou mould. Zaha was also mentioned several times.

So your point was.........?????
yeh very good mate, very impressive
seeing as my point was attacking options and you could see from my list i meant attacking midfielders, but dont let that get in the way of the point you were trying to make
my point is in midfield we are very reliant on 3 players, son, eriksen and dele, if any of these are injured or suspended we are way short in back up, which actually the time you spent so cleverly on wikipedia actually supports

so thank you for endorsing my point

This to me is the most interesting piece of this window. Not because we failed again to find one but because we never seemed particularly certain what to do after Balde even though there seemed a plethora of gettable, albeit over expensive, wide forwards on the market. Then again ultimately very few of them actually moved which may indicate we need to grow one if we're ever going to get one.

Our one key failing in this window for me was this. That said, i'm pleased we didn't just punt on another youngster who won't get the chance/game time. All other business was decent.

Lets hope either Lamela get's back to give us another option out wide and/or we move early in Jan/Summer for the player we actually want in this position.

Thanks @Hercules and all the rest of the ITK.

Based on his post, I'm going to take a wild guess: Zaha was the one we thought we would get. Probably had an agreement w the player, thought we could talk Crystal Palace to release at the 35M (or a little more) number now, and Crystal Palace didn't cave.

Thanks @Hercules That's an interesting analysis of our transfer dealings and the supposed thinking behind the deals. Worth being on the site just for that!

What have I supported. Your continued claim that we are light on attacking options? Lamela is currently on the road back, winks is pushing for a starting place after injury. Neither of these I mentioned. You choose to see what you want to. Which is a negative personal view of the shape of our squad. I on other hand will continue to feel that we have a great squad and we can continue to push for the top spot. Whilst keeping out spending in check.

I think it's also interesting to see the club are now a bit more pragmatic when it comes to buying a specific player. We've had two seasons to address the "pacy WF" position and have tried young talents like N'Jie and N'Koudou to no avail and then the other end of the spectrum you have Sissoko, which has been completely ineffective. The club now are aware it's better to wait and get the right target, rather than fill a squad number, and worry about having to shift a player on a season later, potentially losing money. Hopefully the long game works out!

One thing we've all got to bear in mind is that if Poch cannot achieve anything of note this season, we should not pull out the knives on him. Everyone knows what he requires and yet has not been provided with, and the new signings would require time to get bedded in as Poch's minimum wish to have new additions to the squad at least two weeks before the season starts has not been met.

Perhaps the state of affairs gives him added impetus to play the likes of Winks, TOB, KWP and Edwards more; and if a couple of them really catch on, would inspire other youngsters elsewhere to join up with our own "Young Turks Revolution".

Just curious, and apologies if answered before, do you know what was up with the Moura and Di Maria situation? A little disappointed we didn't look into that. Maybe not so much Di Maria as he wasn't great at Utd and his wages would be sky high, but thought Moura would've been worth a punt.

I'd love to know what the deal is with Sancho. Makes no sense at all that the 17 year old who was homesick for London has moved to Germany, nor does the 'Zeki Fryers' explanation seem to hold up. Dortmund are no Standard Liege.

I know Poch publicly stated that he wasn't good enough...

That's why sancho going Dortmund was so disappointing, fair enough he's proven nothing in adult football but he's clearly a massive talent and the kind we can't get near when they're developed. Hopefully gkn can push on this season but he needs to start games for that.

Also I hope we never deal with city again, fuck their money, there's more to life than money

4. VJ, Poch loves him as a person, and admires his attitude. Poch wants it to work for him, and told him he needs 3 specialist strikers, and with all the games he would get his games.

This is the bit I love. Almost in tears of joy at my keyboard. Sue me, I'm a modern man.

Thanks Herc.

Not sure I'd class Winks as an attacking option?

Also I don't expect to see Lamela for a bit longer, someone said he's only just started light training and he last kicked a ball for us nearly a year ago! It will be a while before he's ready for a game!
