What we (fans/ jj/ club) want and what actually happens are 2 different matters.
If the right bid comes in and vdv/ club/avb agree its a good deal then he will be sold, is what i read from the use of the word want. the fact that it does not say we will not sell is a little worrying.

If we got offered £50m for Bale tomorrow he would be sold, irrespective of signing his new contract.

I think JJ has has clarfied that it will take a similarly exceptional bid for us to sell Rafa - probably around the £20m mark I'd guess (considering he is 2 years older than Modric etc).

why is everyone so fixated on the fact that AVB is only capable of managing a 4-3-3 combination ?

surely he is more professional than that, hell even Harry broke from his 4-4-2 combination to suit the players he had

with the players we are targeting we should have different options depending on our opposition and the conditions

Just the Jasper/Archibald.

The trouble is, no-one seems to take Jasper's ITK seriously, even on SO. In over six years, I can't recall anything he's called that's come to be. Archibald's a different matter, of course, one of the most reliable ITKs, but not infallible by any means. Disregarding that, the gist seems to be, 'If someone comes in with an absolutely whopping offer we'll consider it.' If another club's representatives turned up in Levy's office with £20m in used fifties of course he's going to think hard about it. You don't have to be ITK to know that.

I can't think of too many clubs who would come in with that sort of money for him, though, and certainly not Schalke or HSV.

How the fuck Jasper knows AVB's plans for the squad is another matter entirely.

He's an ideological manager and has written/spoken regularly about why 4-3-3 is the desirable system for the modern game.

He's a student of the game though and will be at the head of emerging tactics, but for now he's absolutely convinced by 4-3-3.

But if he is as intelligent as he seems then he will also see the benefit of tweaking said system, not neccessarily to accomodate players but for them to thrive, especially if they are match turners/winners...

I'm confused. The article is dated 5th June, but talks about AVB being manager etc. Must be a typo.

This has no legs at all - wages a massive stumbling block. Plus I just couldn't see RVP doing that to Arsenal. Although some would argue Arsenal fans would be just as fucked off with him going City! The only way he'll sign is if these takeover rumours are true.

Me too, was just a bit taken back. Probably rubbish. Although we may enquire? ;)

Seeing as Rafa's taken on the role of Levy's deputy transfer negotiator, I can think of stranger things.
