I can see a huge domino effect with the bale deal going through. If they sell Benzema they might go in for Suarez.

They only have Benzema as a senior striker so i can't see them selling him, in truth it always made more sense for them to chase Suarez than Bale from an actual structure of the team standpoint.

Maybe Di Maria they would sell but don't think that will fund Suarez

I'm convinced Madrid would have gone for Suarez instead of Bale if he had won the premier league player of the year. That's how childish I think they are about transfers. Perez (after reading that Neymar has gone to Barca) "Who was voted the best player in England? Get them! Get them now!"

I think Bale has already been sold. Have done for a little while. I do not believe all this Uncle Joe has had a quasi footballing religious epiphany and has suddenly decided, after 11 years, that he wants to win the league. I think as well as the new TV money, shifting some dead wood over the last couple of years, we have some kind of deal with RM for Bale and that is the single biggest factor in us suddenly going berserk and running amok all over Sky's transfer window.

What's more, I don't mind. With the players we already have and If we get the players we are trying for, then I think we have drastically improved more than one area of the pitch and will be a better group for it.

Having Bale didn't always facilitate better football last season, he just facilitated a better outcome sometimes. I think with the additions we have acquired and are hopefully trying to, we will become a much better footballing team overall.

I disagree that Bale has been sold and not announced but agree on the Papa Joe getting football religion as nonsense, never believed that for a second. That being said I think he has been very valuable in underwriting our spending in advance of Bale's sale to allow us to play chicken with Madrid, a calculated gamble and one that looks like its going to pay off on both ends, non exhorbitant purchase prices and a panicked Madrid being squeezed on Bale, but it was a gamble nevertheless and one someone with a big wallet needed to underwrite so we should thank Lewis for that.

As to the team being better only time will tell. I can't confess to watching as much of other teams as Snarf or seemingly you so I'm more cautious about our incomings but know for sure we are losing the league's best player. I certainly hope you're right though and I have way more confidence in Franco and AVB in player selection and balanced squad building than 'arry or Comodi.

Shame about Coentrao, he would be perfect for us. Although maybe we can use Real's Bale desperation to get them to pay some of his wages.

As much as I like him though, no way would I want him to be our top earning player.

I honestly think Madrid might play either Ronaldo or Bale up front.

Ronaldo
Isco <-> Ozil <-> Bale
Modric Alonso

JJ said yesterday that Bale to Madrid is categorically not done yet, but is suggesting on twitter today that he has already been sold.

At this moment, Real has cash about 20M from the proceeds done in the current window.... assuming if they need to refinance CR7 salary, they have to set aside EUR 35m inclusive of tax for this year.

I just wonder at this point of time, do Madrid have the finances to bankroll this deal assuming we ask for 60M up front + 3 yr installments. With tv money squeezed and EC looking at State aid..... I think its fairly difficult unless Perez finance it personally or a 3rd party ownership type of deal. Which is likely.

Yes definitely, the confusing part is that we seem to be doing our business on the basis that Bale will be sold, but there's no guarantee that he actually will be. Rhetorical question - what happens if we buy all these players assuming that Madrid meets the fee we want for Bale, then late in the window they say 'we'll give you 60 million'?

Btw I'm not trying to say that you have contradicted yourself in case it appears that way, I trust what you say but the window has been unusual to say the least.

I have felt that the Bale deal was almost agreed weeks ago and I really get the feeling now that at this stage Levy/Baldini/AVB need this deal and want this deal to happen.
They have gone too far down the road for it not to happen.
I believe we will sign Willian and Lamela,we will sign a left back and if Coentrao is looking for huge dough,I would look elsewhere. We will get another CB and we will get another striker.
Which of our current players will still be here is hard to say but with the sales, the Lewis money and the Bale money we have a brand new shiny team ready to challenge the world.
For me the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Why is Bale driving, Surely he should be at home in a room alone until the deal is done.

I am quite close to very high level details at the club (hence another reason i'm getting out of ITK!) so i was told the GB deal being worked on quite a while ago unfortunately. Remember i dropped that shit sandwich in here!

Since most of our new players have flown out here before the deal was finalised why hasn't Bale done the same if his deal is as close as done as Willian?

I think what boric was meaning Jj is that if they drop their offer really low now after our spending are we screwed, ie would we take the low offer or would we still sit tight in your opinion. Not an ITK q and a I know, but I'm more asking for your opinion.

Tbh I wouldn't say it's unfortunate except from a sentimental point of view. The only reason not to sell Bale for the price being mentioned is if we couldn't attract the type of quality players we needed to replace him and strengthen the squad. Since we seemingly are able to attract such players, I have no qualms about us selling Bale to fund purchases that are going to make our team and squad much stronger than last season. Still going to be biting my nails until we get all the players in though!
