Rebrov was a great little player, playing in a crap side for a stupid manager.

That's over stating it a bit. He wasn't as bad as people make out, but he was never a World beater.

No, but he WAS a great little player, playing in a crap side for a stupid manager.

Its probably a worrying reflection of the crapness of our sides and the stupidity of our managers during my yoof that even though I cant put my finger exactly on who he played under and alongside - I wholeheartedly know this comment to be true.

People disappointed in the current side want to stop and reflect the anguish of being a Spurs fan of yesteryear. 39 points used to be a treasured points total to reach.. mixing it with Bolton and Boro for UEFA spots the holy grail.

I would argue that he was an average little player, who made his name for a dynastic club under a legendary manager. Without Lobanovskyi he was poor everywhere....hell they all were. Shevchenko was the anomaly and perhaps he just lucked into another dynastic club with a legendary manager. Because he turned into Rebrov as soon as he landed in London.

Whatever the truth about Rebrov, playing Ginger Pele (Gawd bless his soul, still playing I believe) over him was quite something.

You could argue that, but you'd be wrong.

Would be happy for a loan for Carroll as long as he goes to a PL club, someone like Swansea would be ideal, hope he would get a lot of game time too.

He was alright at Milan tbf. 120-something goals in about 200 games over 7 yrs.

He was just a dollar short and a day late when Roman signed him. Bit like Torres, Roman simply would not be denied. Wanted him for yonks and then bought him for huge money just as he was on the downslope and near the wrong side of 30.

If Rebrov was 'average' then god only knows what you think about the rest of the 2000-2001 squad!

I had the pleasure of that Graham/Hoddle season ..... the one when we failed to score in 16 of 38 league matches.

I felt Rebrov was on a different level to his team-mates .... the runs he made rarely picked up ... the passes he made into space rarely anticipated.

That's my point though. His vision came from being schooled in the game by Lobanovsky. That's why none of them could move on. Lobanovsky was ages ahead of his time. We're just catching up to him now. The system was the star at Dynamo, not the players. Had the man not died of a stroke, that would have happened with other players at Kiev as well, as he rebuilt them a second time in a post Soviet economic reality.

And I shouldn't call him a poor player. Rebrov was a good player......but good in the way a player like Szabolcs Huszti is a good player. He was nothing special other than learning under one of the game's true geniuses. The price-tag makes people over-romanticize his ability or over-criticize his faults.

And yes Misfit, of course Sheva was amazing at Milan. He went to Chelsea at an advanced age. I was being facetious on that point.

I think we can definitively state that we are after a creative midfield presence, at this point.

Eriksen, Pjanic and Belhanda have all been linked since the past window, and no doubt a few others that I am forgetting. Logic would interpret that we are indeed looking for the last part of the midfield three in a 4-3-3 ie the most offensive part to the trio. To me, its a toss up between Belhanda and Pjanic, I'd be ecstatic with either of them. Belhanda would be cheaper most likely.

AM - Belhanda/Pjanic/Eriksen et al
CF - Soldado/Leandro/Benteke
WF CF - Villa/PEA/Son et al

The key question remains as to where we see Bale playing next year ? Through the middle blocks up our central area and lessens the need, on the right changes things, and on the left changes it further. We won't buy a CF ( eg Leandro ) a WF ( eg PEA ) and get Villa on top of that. Villa must determine whether or not we go for a WF, dependant on where Bale plays

--Villa----Leandro----Bale

--Pjanic--Sandro--Dembele

simple.

With the knowledge you have I have decided to invite you to my final supper.

It's an event between this world and the next, a kind of heaven bus stop. Anyway the idea is to have 24 guests eating a 12 course medieval type feast with barrels of alcohol flowing, and tens of naked young girls just mingling.

Aaaaaargh.....naked young girls :)

Anyway, so far I have confirmed guests as me, billy nic, bob Marley, John Lennon, Oliver Reed and Leslie Nielsen.

Still waiting for a response from Kurt cobain and the toad bad guy from danger mouse. You should definitely come
