JJ didn't seem to think a Bale move was imminent last night. I think he referred to it as "the Bale crap in the media".

Yep, I reckon Valencia will only get the full Soldado fee if he helps us win back to back Champion's Leagues within the next 3 years!

More hopeful regarding Bale as this current shitstorm is based on nothing more sound that Marca's dodgy assertions.

Nothing Bale said before the squad went off to Hong Kong indicated an intention to leave. Also I can't get around the fact that he is signed up to be BT's face of Premiership football for the next three years. It would surely cost him a fortune to renege on that deal at this early stage, and it hardly indicates that he was considering a move abroad does it?

Even if he is tempted by Madrid, we are under no pressure contract-wise to sell him and, knowing what we do of his character, can any of us really see him going on 'strike' or under-performing in matches?

As for Bale, unless Real pay a fee that matches what Levy wants and paid in a way Levy wants then Levy should say to Bale 'you are staying, get over it'

Ali G was saying yesterday they are offering less than 50m

The media love this, this is their bread and butter and they will stop at nothing to get this saga to come to a head one way or another. Marca will continue to hound because Bale is the world's biggest asset right now that Madrid don't have (with the exception of Messi) and the president made promises.

They don't need Bale, there are positional conflicts with Ronaldo and the pressure will be stupid, let alone the ego's in the dressing room.

No, this is being done purely based on Real Madrid needing to be seen to buy the worlds best talent and get one over Barca, nothing else. Barca signed Neymar and that MUST be countered, no matter the cost.

It's disgusting and frankly I am surprised Bale is contemplating joining a club and a local press that operates in this manner. Did he not see what happened to Modric? The fans hated the signing and I am not sure they feel they need Bale either.

I really hope Bale sits down and says to Spurs, "right, this is it, last season, show me we are going to compete and get CL and I will stay", but the media circus is so adamant that Bale wants out now it is going to be hard to not eventually believe it the longer our camp stays quiet on the matter.

This reeks of the Berbatov to United saga, Modric to Madrid, just so far with fewer comments from the player... SO FAR.

You realise he was injured, right? Has a 'strained buttock'! (That will never stop being hilarious)
Hi blackcanary, I know that's the line coming out of spurs, but the cynic in me thinks that if you have a £100m asset who is marketable and you are willing to sell you will protect that, given the fact the the tour to HK is business driven in terms of global marketing and bale is our most popular player, almost a brand in himself the powers that be would be desperate for him to play if he was part of our longer term plans, I am just abit dubious with where this is heading

No

Bale is the new Beckham, a global brand

Bale will do nothing that will tarnish his clean cut image like striking

IMHO

Find a player who could replace Bale!? He is a once in a lifetime player.
Ok not like for like as such but in terms of his place in the team. I think it's clear Bale will one day be sold so we need to have a continuation of quality coming through. I think it would be great to get another young prospect like Bernard now for when Bale leaves.

AVB is very cautious when it comes to injuries: I imagine he'd have put his foot down if he considered Bale too injured to risk, especially on that swimming lido of a pitch.

(Although I am strangely tickled by the idea of him having to make up an injury for Bale and being all "ummm....buttock problem?").

Well according to the papers, Levy is flying to meet Bale to hold talks. But also according to the papers Levy is giving Bale the silent treatment.
Well when you are trying to con people into buying your newspaper, you need to make up enough lies so as to actually get something truthful by proxy.

How are Marca actually viewed in Spain? Reputable, or dross? (I'm assuming dross?)

Depends whose reading of course. Unfortunately there are a lot of sheep residing in Spain and believe a lot of whats said...you only have to look as far as the level of corruption existing in Spanish society to understand how it all fits in...Today's Marca also claimed "according to the Daily Mail......"

They are simply Madrids mouth piece but its how they go about things and their egotistical level which is unrivaled...

I am not sure if this was posted on here yesterday but...

Yep, he flew out to Hong Kong to make a point of giving Gareth the cold shoulder and now he's flown back to walk past him in the corridors of the training centre muttering 'Gareth who?'.

I want Bale to stay but if he leaves it won't be the end of the world

He scored 21 goals last season, Paulinho and Soldado will certainly score more than that this season so at worst if Bale leaves we will have stood still a bit if we don't buy anyone with the Bale money

But we will buy people so we will be fine without Bale

But he had better stay!

Oh dear!

Mind you, i'm always surprised by the sheer number of people who believe the rubbish in our media too.

:D LLM just an hr ago

it was always planned.to change for this year to a 433. Everu part of our youth level played 433 in preparation for this year.

also avb confirmed this in an interview a few days ago.

How you feeling about liverpools chances this season? I still feel under rodgers the inconsistency will stop.you making a serious threat to the top 5 sadly.
Not sadly at all :) I love the fact Liverpool are inconsistent!!!

Can't we just stop this Bale talk altogether? It saddens me.. :( Hopefully some of the more established ITK's come out saying that hes definitely not for sale, even though that's what capacities like JJ and LLM has hinted to already (thankfully).

Need something like Soldado on the OS to cheer us all up! (y)

Roger Morgan on SO's take on the Bale debacle

Don't read too much into the body language. Others will. He's sensitive and won't like being portrayed as some sort of bad guy. Probably missed his missus and kid while sitting around in HK, and you can bet the other players are ribbing him mercilessly. If the head's gone, as I was told, it's probably because he doesn't really know what to do for the best. His people are driving this. And that could still be primarily to improve his current deal. Down to Levy now and how much cash Madrid really are prepared to put on the table. If they sell Sami Khedira or another big player, then it gets more possible.
