I am not sure i understand the Barnett stuff... why sell Gylfi and Caulker? I mena ok Caulker IS Sold, but ITK says that is purely because he wanted starting 11 position and ok, fair play, he cannot expect that at a club like Spurs and a newly promoted club will give him that chance. He will learn and when he is older and better he may well grace a top club again (no disrespect to Cardiff).

After all, look at Kaboul, got game time and experience at Portsmouth and came back to us a better player!

But now Gylfi? Back to my original question, is this a supposed power struggle due to Bale and holding us to ransom or something?

I really rate the Sigmeister and after a slow start thought he was effective with his contribution. Not a starter for sure, but not far off and a great player to have on the bench/challenging for a starting place.

Maybe AVB doesn't rate him either though, after all that's was supposedly the reason for offloading Caulker.

My mindset has changed last day or so. If you're resigned to him leaving, then if he stays it'll be delightful. Personally think we could still surprise a few doubters next year withiut Bale.

I can't see where the goals would come from. We still don't have that creative midfielder and bale saved us in that respect last year. Also very fragile at the back imo, one injury (which will most certainly come) and we're in trouble

Still no quote from bale or spurs... I'm refusing to believe this is a done deal. Soldado softens the blow, but we are significantly weaker without the boy wonder... I really hope levy has something up his sleeve, with bale at the club we are 2 players away from a serious title mount... Without bale we are 4/5 players away. Can we get those players in before the window shuts ? Highly doubt it. Fuming
I was very confident he would not leave up until yesterday bet it has gathered far too much speed for it not to be true. I am pissed about a few things. At the start of the summer he committed to AVB and Spurs and talked about their great relationship and how he helped him prosper. Now he wants out which is a big slap in the face. If we get our signings tidied up we are showing great ambition so he could give us one more year. Real Madrid are wankers and Zidane despite being a great player has not got a shred of decency. Now I have not been a big fan of Daniel Levy but he can make it straight back on to my Xmas card and bottle of whiskey list if he acts like the greatest c@*! to Real Madrid. Whilst I have probably given him shit for being hard to deal with, I would live to see him go into overdrive on this one

Waiting with intrigue to see what the club assemble by september. Been here too many times before. And it's not been pretty in the past. Either they are going to put together a side that challenges which is what I believed they would at the beginning of the summer with a few additions and keep bale. Or what I am leaning towards now that they will sell make a lot of money and patch the side up. Really your never going to replace bale but when you start saying Soldado is one of the three top signings to replace him as opposed to coming in along side bale a week a go this sounds like it's going one way.

I can't believe for a second we would be selling players because we don't like their agent. That would be silly.

Soldado, Chadli can score a few, Paulinho is a goal scoring midfielder too, while if Dempsey stays (I know the hate he gets) he does chip in with a few. Verts is a scoring defender who will chip in with a couple.

And these 2 other top players we're rumoured to sign might be able to score a few themselves.

Don't think any of the ITKs called the Caulker sale until just before did they?

More evidence that we're running a bit of a tighter ship these days.

Club is in a mess due Bale situation and hence no leaks, club only leaks what it wants to leak.

Absolutely.

The system was designed to bring out the best in Bale and now we'll adapt so that the team functions better with goals spread across which is much more efficient regardless.

RVP carried Arsenal to fourth 2 years ago but they replaced his goals and maintained their Champions League status so if people are struggling to see where the goals will come from - especially in light of a prolific striker in Soldado coming in, then they need to take a good look at themselves.

With or without Bale, this team is still going places.

Indeed surely doing anything that lines the pocket of the agent isn't exactly particularly mean.

That's like me turning on you, ross the saint, calling you a ****, punching you in the face then slipping a roll of twenties in your pocket.

N.B. "A roll of twenties" is not slang or code for the Stoof Penis. I like to call it the Decagon ... because when it's cold my dec a-gon'.

One thing about there being no quotes from Spurs or the Bale camp about the proposed move is that the media will be running low on new ways to tout the same story soon. Give them quotes and they have a new drum to bang on. Soon we'll start seeing reports like 'EXCLUSIVE! Bale, erm, STILL wants to go to Madrid!'

Don't give them anything to feed off til you're ready, Levy.

I think that can only be one of the reasons why we haven't done it.

Same. I think the likely explanation is they simply made us a good offer. 10-12m would be great money for a player who has only occasionally been great for us. The fact is we have three incoming and need to shift someone to cover their wages, and to do that we need someone willing to actually pay.

When did we have a successful transfer window last ? One that we felt the board really backed us and we hadn't been short changed?

Taxi for Stoof.

Seriously though, I'd take a punch in the face for a roll of twenties right now. Even 5's would do.

I just hope the bale negotiations hasnt interupted our incoming deals. Its all gone very quiet on who wil be joining us. I expect bale to be gone this time next week at this rate. We then.need replacements in within a matter of days so they are in for the palace game.

If we have another start to the season without the bulk avbs squad being in place then its a shambles.
