He means to imply that having those stats in the Ukranian League is far easier to do than in the Prem, failing to understand that if Lennon were supported only by Shakhtar players every time he played he could very well have worse numbers, and vice versa. Comparing stats across leagues is silly as players have widely varying levels of support from their teams and it is up to us to put any new signings in a position to be successful.

This is of course true, but bear in mind that Shakhtar is the best team in the Ukrainian Premier League. :)

Anyway, I won't stray off topic any more.

There is a distinct difference in the quality of the two leagues though. I'd expect a player valuated at around £20 million to knock them in on a regular basis in a low quality league like the Ukranian one. I don't really support Lennon any more than any other Spurs player, but I disagree with the opinion that Willian is a huge improvement on him.

If AVB thinks Willian will improve us then I'm all for getting him, but I don't think the "quoted 20 million" pricetagis even close to being right. That said we had this discussion in the last ITK thread and got nowhere, so I won't keep banging on about it.
yeah I agree.

Still, statistics are not everything. Willian is not as relied on as Lennon is at Spurs (i.e he is kind of isolated at times) and Shakhtar have Costa, Teixeira, Armenian guy, Srna, etc. Lots of players who score goals and assist. Azza and Bale are the focal points of our team.

Is there a general consensus the song for AVB is/will be: let it be?

Ive seen it posted in a number places but haven't heard it sung yet. Just been humming it to myself and I must say it's brilliant.
Although may require more vocal ability than YID ARMY x10

Willian is a talented player, but even at 15 million pounds, he is a luxury we cannot afford. I'd much rather go to CSKA with an offer for Keisuke Honda, who we could potentially get for 10 million pounds, as he is out of contract next season. He'd be an ideal signing for us in so many ways.

While I love the idea of signing Damiao, I think it is crucial for us to first bring in a deep lying playmaker first. Whether it's Moutinho or someone else, it should take precedence. I also think goalkeeper is a real issue that cannot be put off. I'd take Lloris and Dembele right now, with no other strikers, if we could get them for money Modric brings in.

Yes I got the point, but surely Willians stats also include a few seasons worth of champions league games also???

My point is that Willian Is as effective as Lennon is in 67 Less games; over 6000 minutes of football. Which includes champion league teams.

I'm just saying if the stats were similar, games wise I can see the point, but you can only play against whats in front of you. I think Willians stats even in Ukrainan legit compare favourably against Lennons.

No, the statistics are just league games. No european or cup games. For either player.

3 words.....

Ber
Bat
Ov....

Please

For some reason I don't think the highly unpopular, ageing, generally lazy strop-meister will be high on either AVB's or Levy's list of priorities.

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't have an issue with him coming back, but you can bet your house Levy would.

How about no you crazy dutch bastard

HEY!!! I'm not Dutch... lol

No, I didn't want to find myself in the position where I'd be at this stage of the transfer window actually hoping we get Berbatov back but I am now. We've not done anything spectacular with our attacking options like i would have hoped and with a week to go we know the options he would provide and we know the price is a bargain for his ability.

Having said that, I do not forgive any player for going on strike against our team. He is still a tosspot in my eyes. But so is Ade and I'm glad he signed. And before the slating begins, Ade is the only player in the squad that I don't really like, every other player is cool in my opinion (not including Modric at all there). Just Ade's not my cup of tea, never got over him playing for the scum for some reason....
