Exciting times certainly but we'll still need a lot of work on our strength in depth. City, United and Chelsea have an alarming number of options even if their top players are out, and we aren't really near them in that regard at the moment.

But Paulinho and Villa would be a bloody good start.

Errr I think you're forgetting we have the likes of Clint Dempsey, Tom Huddlestone and Jermain Falcao in reserve my friend. Ready to cover our big guns the moment they are out, or to come on late and change the game completly(y)

I'm honestly really torn on my expectations for the club in 2013/14. Should we land Paulinho, Villa and maybe an out-and-out striker to lead the line, I'm not sure if us just going for 4th is enough.

I honestly think, with our strength in midfield and defense, we could be really big competitors in not only the league, but also across multiple cup competitions.

I really think we will land a trophy this season.

Yeah I think with those signings we should be aiming higher than 4th place, and it would certainly be possible as long as our squad doesn't get ravaged by injuries like last season. To me Manchester City looks like the only team without any noticeable weaknesses now that they've signed a couple players. Despite the fact that they ran away with the league last season, United's squad doesn't really impress me and I think they will need to make a few big signings for Moyes to even ensure that they finish in the top four. Just don't see any great quality in any position except strikers. Chelsea have a couple of weaknesses but will probably address them throughout the transfer window. Arsenal have quite a lot of holes in their team and squad but they have a top notch attack which sometimes papers over them imo. I think with maybe 4 signings we could be challenging for the title, I just hope Levy takes the opportunity this summer as it might be our last chance.

That's a bit like saying "if I win the lottery, what happens to the £3,000 I had saved up".

Its still a good thing and still helps, its just not quite as important.

I just think Sig has high potential and Holtby has too. Look how young they are. I likee that we are doing our business but I would prefer a new left back to 4 offensive minded players.

We should still have some perspective for guys like Pritchard.

I am not moaning but I want to see more from then.

I think we'll leave the leftback until the end of the window. Get Danny Rose back to the club and see how well he's progressed and whether he's ready to takeover before buying one.

At the end of the 2010-2011 season he started the final three games and looked great. The next season he definitely stalled not getting any action. Last year was his breakthrough, sure there will be growing pains and he will make mistakes, give up goals and maybe cost us points this season, but I definitely want our youth to get a chance.

Well FTL doesn't strike me as a place that tolerates WUM's. I don't know for certain. What do you think Bizness? You know FTL as well as anybody.

I think all signings will be left till the last minute. Most likely one seems to be Paulinho but he is a midfielder and we have a REALLY good midfield already. Him coming over only really makes sense if Bale is on his way out imo.

Villa may happen but lets face it. He is 31 years old and not exactly in his prime. Still very good but slowing down which would leave us with Aderbayor and him up front. Not exactly the dream team strike force we heard touted at the beginning of the transfer window...

Dont worry, Villa is just the biscuit base. The cream cheese will come later in the Summer

I doubt this is worthy of RO, but Jasper did follow up previous with

They don't want 12m, its less than that nearer 10.5M in Euros. Press are right with the rest.

If true concerns about asking price can be assuaged as that is just 9m GPB

If anything I think we may have the depth of numbers in our midfield but we are most definitely short of quality. When Sandro was out and Dembele began to struggle we really looked stretched for quality in the midfield. Paulinho should sort that out with Holtby, Carroll and Siggy then we have a little more quality depth to fall back on and over the course of the 60+ game season we will need someone like Paulinho to come in this summer.

I agree. I have found Baldini's moves to be quite troubling. I am already regretting him joining us. If we get stuck with four or five absolutely paradigm-shifting world class players I am going to got bat-shit. I will kick a blind man the man in the crotch. Get it together Baldini!
