January is always difficult. To be honest if someone deserves blame for our striker situation it’s Poch. Didn’t renew Llorente, and has never sought to adequately find back up for Kane.

the best we could get in January would be sub par, and in my opinion not worth doing. Rather plan for the future and buy properly than be stuck with another player we don’t want.

Bet you blame Poch for going two windows without signing anyone too. I know the answer so pls don’t reply.

I really hope the Bale return to Spurs guff dies a death this window now; although it'll probably roll on again throughout the summer.

It's all about sell on value of players that become available. We have brought players in in positions that wasnt a priority, yet neglected the key posistions that would have made us stronger on the playing field if not in the bank. Ie full backs, defensive midfield , and most glaringly a striker.
Levy in this window has shown us where he's mentality is.
CL is irrelevent if the revenue we gain from it isnt reinvested in the playing staff where its needed.
We as fans are just pawns in this business called football.

Our squad management has been poor for years. Have we ever had a window were one could actually feel that all our glaring problems were solved?

Levy is a brilliant businessman, but the man is clearly clueless when it comes to the footballing side of things. Or maybe he isn't; maybe he knows what the problems are, but just gambles on that things will sort themselves out somehow. They have usually done so, be it through pochs genius or the fact that we've been lucky to have some real stars like Bale, Modric and Kane make up for the under-investment and poor management.

The last few windows were a step too far though. Not signing a striker in the summer was poor - not being able to have one ready for the opening of this window was even poorer. Add Kanes injury to the equation and it becomes a disaster. And let's not forget about the mess at rb/lb that's been going on for quite some time now or the problems we've had at dm/cm ever since Dembele felt he needed to leave.

It would be nice if we for once could be proactive in our squad management instead of always playing catch up or just being negligent.

Ok United, third biggest club in the world signed a 30yo from China as a striker, should we have followed suit? Any members who are hating on the club please asnwer me why thy found it so hard too? Please, just reply with a logical answer, since the transfer market is so easy.

Because we've had since Llorente left to sign a backup striker.
Because we've had a month since Kane got injured to desperately sign a backup striker.
Of course we failed trying to do it in the last few days and of course the options left were awful.
There's no world class striker who fancied playing in the best stadium in the world and working for the most famous manager in the world?
There's really no defence for how much Levy fucks about trying to get a "deal", pinching pennies but losing pounds.
Wow. Just seen this and it couldn't be more accurate.

Unfortunately some of the frustrations may be voiced if we lose to City (which we may well do) on Sunday. Certainly boos at the least. I am not suggesting this by the way.

Let's not forget Fat Frank is chelsea through and through, and might have slightly enjoyed screwing us over...

and who is to say that the message sent out that Chelsea were up for it and Frank alone changed his mind is one that is genuine ?

Its hardly complex Machiavellian shit for the Chelsea hierarchy and him to agree to string us along before he slams the door on it on the final day and makes it seem like it was his doing and no one else’s.

Chelsea sending us a reasonable custom made emergency striker to try and fix a striker crisis seems illogical and unlikely at best. Even more so when you consider the bad blood between the clubs at board room level for a long time and the subsequent refusal by either club to do business with each other ever since.

Chelsea won’t particularly care if Giroud is disappointed. Five more months and they can let him go wherever he wants without having potentially got a club out of a jam that’s in direct competition with them.

Maybe I’m way off on this one, but never for a second did I actually believe that Giroud would join us, despite the genuine nuggets of info that were being passed along in good faith

I'm not sure that even signing Messi/Ronaldo would have much affected the probable result on Sunday.

I'd think most fans would accept a decent performance by any 11 we can get on the pitch for that game. Much like we did for the Liverpool game.

We should have replaced llorente when he left in the summer. Bit of a joke that the 8th richest club in the world has one CF
Poch was clearly happy with his options. He'd played Parrott quite a bit in pre-season and had always previously been content with Son up there as back up. I don't have too much of an issue therefore with releasing Llorente and not replacing him. The time for action was this window when Jose came in and made it abundantly clear that he sees the game differently to Poch and that he needs a number 9.

Always has more gravitas with the big blue background

Well quite a few on media seem to think so. We will see wether player will cofirm it too. Remember dragon1 mentioning striker ManU were after yesterday?

We had Slimiani, King and in the last hour the Nigerian, all who both us and United were linked too, rock solid intel. Would you have been more satisfied if we had signed him, I’m getting doh’d but no responses, great debate. 90% of all the transfer news is absolute bollocks, bollocks that make sure the press make money, but allows a fan base to turn toxic. We see this year after year and yet we all still buy into it, some how immune to the bullshit. I include myself in this but I won’t beat my club for being stupid enough to believe the horseshit they feed us. I could go further but for my love of this forum I won’t.

If Tottenham boys info is accurate and Jose is happy, then that's all that really matters.
Hmm, I'm taking the "Jose's happy" info with a huge dose of salt. I don't doubt Tottenham Boy's sincerity but I do doubt that Jose is going to say what he really thinks at this stage of his tenure. Give it another year or two of missed targets and we'll likely find exactly what Jose thinks from the man himself.

Mate he had £500M worth of targets at United, and still complained, I wouldn’t believe much that leaves his lips. Having said that’s I’m behind him because really I do like the guy now he’s with us.
