A&C, you didn't say this on the 1st January did you?

Woohoo! It's open! The Transfer Window is here! 31 days of waiting for something that isn't going to happen! Fast Forward to the window closing and we'll see thread after thread moaning about another lost opportunity/Levy is a tight ****/Why didn't we sign player X/Y or Z? Deep down you know it.................

You were warned!

SING A SONG OF SIXPENCE

Sing a song of transfers a pocket full of cash,
Four and twenty rumours all of them gash.
When the transfer window opened the ITKs did sing,
Oh we want a striker but we all got nothing

Levy was in his counting house counting out his money,
He liked the clubs bank balance laughing cos its funny
The fans on Spurs Community they began to moan
What did we get eventually, not even a loan

Still, it's been a great laugh and come the summer transfer window we'll all be back here, doing it all again.

Well, most of us, anyway :sneaky:

At first, I was upset about the lack of striker or other depth being brought in. But, after a few glasses of bourbon, I've come to the conclusion that I would rather see that depth come from our youth ranks.

We want AVB to implement his system, and we want to build a solid academy system that can funnel world class talent up to our first team. We can't do that if we go out into the transfer market every time we need depth in a position.

I, for one, am hoping we see more youth included in our squad for the second half of the season. Sure, it will be risky, but we'll have to take that risk sooner or later. I'd rather take that risk now, when AVB has little pressure from Levy to perform, Everton are looking a little wobbly, Chelsea still hasn't found form under Benitez, and Arsenal are still dropping points in winnable matches.

I think I'd rather see Obika given a good 30 minute run this weekend than put a slightly injured Defoe out there. Maybe it'll put a fire under Defoe's ass to help him find form again.

We're more than okay with what we have, and I'm glad we didn't spend 20M on an unproven forward.

Why cant I learn my lesson? 47 years old and I still think something different will happen every 6 months.

Anyway -
cheers to Levy for paying for Holtby early
jeers to Levy for no striker. This really is our achilles heel.

Well, as usual deadline day was an anticlimax, and a complete, utter waste of time. Still a lot of good deals were done during the window. Didn´t think we ever would get rid of Jenas (even though Bentley is still around...). And of course Cudicini off the wage bill.

And how many players have we loaned out this window? Gomes, Townsend, Falque, Coulibaly, Mason, Pritchard, Smith. Do the U21s have any players left?

Anyway, I´m kind of glad it´s over... My wife recent me, my kids don´t recognise me, my cat despise me, my boss is starting to suspect I´m not getting any work done and my friends claim I´m unsocial... Time to return to the real life! Thank you all for a nice ride!

And breathe.......

We can still get 4th, tho our run of games doesn't get any easier. I think it will largely depend on how ade does when he returns, im counting on you big man (y)

Honestly went to bed after the TW closed, hoping I will wake up and see someone bought in levy time. Shame on me. AVB good luck.

We'll be fine.

Before the window my biggest wish was someone creative with a football brain. We got that in Lewis and our squad is still bloody strong.
Strikerwise I would have liked Negredo but not too bothered with LD tbh.
Some say our achilles heel is lack of strikers - Imo it's unlocking deep sitting defences, and even Falcao would 't have helped us in that depaartment. Obviously if Lewis is a dud I'll be back here soon bitching and whining.

COYS!!

And the greatest ITK was AVB closely followed by JJ who said it would be quiet. We got Holtby and Fryers, young with great potential. We can't afford to go out and challenge the Chelskis and Citys for the top players. Get em young, get em cheap and build (not buy) a world class team.

We have been hoodwinked yet again by our chairman same ploy 2 windows running, I feel very sorry for avb talked into a job and as yet not supported by his boss he must feel let down.

I hope he stays with us for next season but can understand if he chooses to walk away and find a club that spends money to support his ideas etc.

I trust mr levy is still up counting all the money saved I hope he is well, I would imagine that some on here will give me neg rep but today I dont care as so fucking pissed off I can see 4th spot going now a real opportunity missed

I'm fairly proud to say that I think I learned my lesson this window (or I learned it over the other windows and finally accepted it this window). I did get sucked in a little toward the end but in my mind I always knew we weren't going to do anything, and I was a cynical **** for most of January.

I still think we have a very good team and we are possibly even stronger with the addition of Holtby, but I don't believe we will finish 4th anymore. We needed a striker at least, and cover in other positions because (especially if we go a long way in the Europa league) the squad is going to get overworked and we will see a drop in form somewhere along the way as a result imho. Liverpool bolstered their squad, and Arsenal won't have to worry about European competition because there is very little chance they will beat Bayern, so this puts us in a poor position I think.

We/l am not suggesting splashing the cash on a striker but providing the team with another striking option, providing competition for Defoe and Ade. We played an FA cup match with no strikers. Defoe is not fit , what if Ade gets injured

Yep the sneaky old devil. Making a bid for a player and having it turned down. Never would have happened to Chelsea (Willian, Modric?).

It's all part of his master plan to destroy our club from within so that he can build a nuclear power station on the land where our stadium sits.

Then again he might just be doing what he thinks is best for the club.

Who then? We don't know who was available or how much was wanted or how much we had to play with. Loans? Again who?

'twas a greatly entertaining day yesterday and the window overall wasn't bad. We got a young and possibly dynamic number 10 oozing with potential and creativity, sold JENAS, loaned Gomes with the possibility of a permanent, and found Laing for our most promising youngsters.

On the down side, we realized Leandro, Moutinho and Willian will never happen, most likely. We can keep trying for those types of players but, unless they fall from the sky, we will not have the finances to pull them off anytime soon. Shame but reality.

Now about those injuries, I hope everyone heals for the long term.

Thanks for a cracking forum yet again this window SC. Mods kept it going and the ITKers have us the info. Another donation will be forthcoming.

See you in Chat. Thanks all.

Who are the clowns who said 'Leandro is close' and all of this nonsense. Can't believe I'm so stupid to believe it and get excited!! Next time, these people shouldn't even be allowed to post. They had their chance and they were wrong (not all of them but a majority) so no more 'I'm ITK' for them.

Yep, thanks to Chris A&C Bill Rob and everyone who helps make this such a great site and thread. And of course thanks to the ITKs who without we'd have to change the name of this to discussion. That way leads madness.

Suppose it was close though? Have no idea if it was or wasn't but if the iTKs are told we have agreed terms with player and are comfortable with the bottom line price (if that happened which we may never know) but were hopeful inter could work with us on the payment schedule, would that not be considered close? All the whispers were trending in the "it's close direction" so unless and until someone clarifies what happened I'll live in my ignorant world of believing it was close but couldn't happen for whatever reasons (quite possibly we weren't comfortable with the upfront numbers). Or I could just be thinking that because my youngest has refused sleep the last three nights and I'm watching her stand In her crib crying again right now.

I don't honestly see us ending 4th anymore , as a footballer myself just cant see it happening.....we have like nothing upfront , Dempsey was a clown againts Norwich and is not seen as and out and out striker.....
Ade or Defoe might get injured......

All the best AVB , and Levy u suck big time how do you expect your manager to bring good results when you give shite tools...
