Wolfsburg has no reason to sell. So they probably would say 25m or he's staying.

Who's to say we haven't put an inquiry in and been told there's no chance? Wolfsburg have no particular need to sell and are in a good place right now with the player settled and playing well and probably going to be offered a new contract on similar wages. From the player's perspective we're not a huge step up from where is right now - an environment where he's settled and already playing and developing well. If he continues to develop this well at Wolfsburg he'll be sought after by Real Madrid or City in a years time. If he moved to us then that could happen but it's a risk he probably doesn't need in his career right now. It's not like somebody playing in the Eredivisie or Ligue 1 who would need to prove themselves in the PL at somebody like us before getting that move.

I can completely see why people want Rodriguez and he does on the face of it look feasible but the circumstances may mean that he's just not interested and that's not really Levy or Tottenham's fault.

So because we haven't signed 'top class players' since we qualified for the CL this means we won't sign any this transfer window? Not really sure thats the case. Especially since we qualified for CL we've signed VDV, Adebayor, Erickson, Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho and a other exciting prospects. While you might dispute some of these being 'top class' they were each cause for most on this forum to get excited about in past transfer windows...and have every chance of reaffirming their class this year.

My actual point was that we have sold our best players and replaced them with inferior ones, which I think is pretty much beyond debate...sell Bale, Modric and Rafa, sign Dempsey, Dembele and Lamela. we have sold top class and either replaced them with average players or potentially great players. We do not sign top players and if the potential players we have develop into top class players we sell them and the whole process begins again. Because of this we now look further away from the top four/five clubs than we ever did during Harry's tenure and the only way to arrest this is to sign a top class Left back and left winger at the very least... players ike Sanchez and Rodriguez. Obviously we won't do this, we will instead sign Ben Davies and Enner Valencia or another player of that ilk, adding yet more average players to a squad already bloated with them. Chadli, Townsend, Siggy, Holtby, Paulinho, Soldado, Rose, Naughton, Dawson, none of these would get anywhere near the squads above us and yet we persist with them.

Have I missed something? pretty sure we haven't even been linked to Ricardo Rodriguez have we? There's no player thread for him and I don't recall having read even a crappy tribalfootball story about him at the very least.

As brilliant as he is, I can't help but feel it's this forum which has generated buzz about him amongst the fans when in reality there is no evidence to support that we're even interested......unless someone can show me otherwise, which I'd obviously be happy to see.
