dragon1: this was player i refered to earlier today (balotelli) jose had him at inter and thinks he is crackers though but club are open and brescia are skint

we have 4 options now, giroud, balotelli , lloriente and one orther who looks united bound now

honestly it probably depends what mood jose wakes up in tomorrow and whether he wants any of them on loan

none of the top tier strikers are available this window and jose does not want players for sake of it

he also says @Hercules info is good

I'd leave it to Jose and go with his decision and if its not to sign anyone let's hope Son has his eye on the goal!

Let’s sign all four and get them in a lab, scrap them all for parts, put them back together and from there we should have something serviceable.

Thanks Dov (y)

Just a shame all the names we are left linked with are just dire and uninspiring, its like we are scraping the barrel but only after its already been scraped a few no of times

Of the 3 mentioned here, either Giroud or Llorente would be ok with me.
I would hate to touch Balotelli. But if there was one manager who could manage his ego and get the best of him, that will be Jose.

We shouldn't be having to try on deadline day. Kane literally got injured on New Year's day.

That's the crux of why it's disappointing I think.

And every club in the world knows that, and knows we are desperate.
If it means we don’t overpay for, or end up with more deadwood then so be it. This was always going to be tricky to sort in January, and for what ever reason (or whoever’s to blame more like) this should have been sorted sometime in the last couple of years. I’m pretty sure José will accept it and muddle through with what we have, but I’m equally as sure he won’t accept I not being addressed properly in the summer.

Willian Jose been heavily linked to United tonight so fourth option is probably him.

IF you believe the rags, Chelsea have offered £5m for Mertens. Dude is worth WAY more than that. Surely we'd be willing to pay more than that.
Was a great player, not what he was and would be an absolute square peg in a round hole for what Jose wants.

Just saying we need to be aiming higher than balotelli and giroud neither are good enough for us in my opinion and we shouldn’t just be looking for a stop gap until kane is back. We need someone so when kane is fit we can rest him and not keep running him into the ground. I wouldn’t be looking at past it veterans
I completely agree about what we need longer term however if a stop gap is all we can realistically get in January when we need a striker then I don't see the issue in that. Sometimes needs must.

My god.

Balotelli, Giroud or Llorente. I think I’m the only person on here who LOVES THEM ALL.

Okay I don’t love Giroud. My love order would be Nando > Mario > Giroud

My preference for signing them would be Giroud > Mario > Nando

But in honesty I’d be happy with any of those on a 6-18 month deal. Encouraging stuff.

which tells you how incompetent they are, I can get the logic of us getting Jose cause of how we play, but United sold Lukaku for a reason

That’s the problem though we shouldn’t be in this position but that’s another story. See what tomorrow brings

Get Llorente back in if available and address it properly in the summer would be my move.

Don't like the idea of United getting a striker ahead of us.

Of the options mentioned, Giroud, Slimani (would be my guess), Balotelli and Llorente, it’s Balotelli that I’d be most interested in, so long as it was a loan only, with option if we so choose. Bridges a gap for us to the end of the season for us, knows the league, known quantity to Mourinho, and has both pace and power. Bat$hit crazy, but talented and capable of being a real handful for defences.
We can look again in the summer if he hasn’t worked out, without having committed to a long contract.

I like the plural.

He also says: “selling clubs want crazy money for back up strikers - I mean crazy money.“

So I can understand why we are struggling. Don’t want to pay out big bucks for players that might not be that good. Guess that’s what happens when you try and wing it in the last days of the window.

Yeah and it’s also what happens when you make awful decisions like letting Llorente go without replacing him. Fate often has a habit of shitting on the unprepared from a great height.

It’s a difficult spot we‘ve found ourselves in, but you reap what you sow and all that.

United prob willing to spend money to buy these players, it’s clearly more difficult for us as we only want a loan. Don’t wanna be stuck long term with any of those players on that list

Really underwhelmed by the latest ITK, can’t believe that we’re left with a choice of that 3, as I’m assuming WJ is Utd bound.
