Perhaps the potentially unpopular names Herc didn’t disclose are tried and tested prem strikers. Not sure that would be the worst thing in the world right now, especially if it was a loan. Struggling to adapt to the pace of the league is the last thing we need. They’ll just risk underwhelming and being slated without a proper opportunity to integrate.

Surely must be referring to Giroud as a name that would wind some up, and maybe Benteke

KP. Clarification!
We are interested, but no official bid. We prefer loan with option (if it works out). Milan want sale with negotiable payment structure. We offered one player for sure as a sweetener. Won’t disclose whom, but squad player. Other strike options being discussed. But names will wind some up, and I don’t know what it would do to the others.

Some things never change. One of the main differences between us and Liverpool is that they go out and get their business done early with a lot less fuss and time wasting.... and, ultimately, a lot more success.

And yeah, I get it, transfers are complicated... especially those involving Daniel Levy.

Yet somehow Liverpool can go and do their homework early and sign a rising talent like Minamino as soon as the window opens. Meanwhile, we'll still be talking about possible loan deals for Walker-Peters and Piatek on 31st January.

Small time thinking. Needs to change.

Not having a DoF for the last few years has really hurt us.

Because United are in for him I guess.

Suppose it was always dependent on Eriksen's future, as it was in the summer. Ultimately 6 months or a year transition surely can't be a bad thing?

Let's hope the Jose factor takes effect. Him and Ronaldo must have been the heroes of the Portuguese players of today.

I wonder what he will go for, if he goes.

Thanks, as ever, for sharing.

Presumably this is the stage at which Levy refuses to give in to the agent's ridiculous requirements and Woodward subsequently wins the day.

Well fingers crossed that it's true that Levy is desperate for Champions League and pushes the boat out.

I'm assuming you're not taking about Ed Woodward - if so, you might want to pop on their forums and see if that's how highly they think of him. He could mess up buying from a supermarket.

There's a high likelihood they aren't even in for him - it's the same as last time where all the noise came from that end (assuming to pressure us) and it turned out we were the only ones he was taking to.

Sounds like we might be reacting
