Interesting. Even though everyone wants to believe Plan A is Bernard I find that hard to believe with the price AM are asking for him.

Maybe they have seen the massive inflation of prices recently and with RM talking about a record fee with Bale, Levy/Lewis could be thinking 25m Euro investment could give us a 60m valued player in 3 years.

He is also the style of player that attracts big sponsorship if he meets his potential, especially being Brazilian (Neymar already pulls in more than Messi).

So we went from tumbleweeds, flange-piping, and whatever other crude indulgences A&C keeps banging on about to Bale definitely staying, Benteke basically agreed, and Chadli circling overhead aroundHeathrow waiting for the go ahead to land in a few hours.

What will tomorrow bring I wonder?

Well just heard that it looks like we may have done a certain mr Benteke :0)
Pretty sure we have and sounds v optimistic.
Not putting my nads on the line 100% as still a few things to complete things change blah blah. but a deal in principle has been done 'apparently'.

Taxi for Mr Pink ?

News reports said Bernard has 5 offers to choose from. If he indeed was our plan A, does that mean we have matched offers along with 4 other clubs? . If not, is Bernard even plan A and we have someone else in mind?

As some ITK said a month ago, may be we are even looking at loan + buy on a RM player in that role. tbh, if I were Levy, I would look camp opposite at BM and pick some midfielders/forwards on cheap - with them signin Thiago, surely there should be some surplus.

Having said that, Chadli looks the more realistic signing

Easily be rhetoric to push the price up for us.

Let's look at who we know have been definitely interested for a period.

Us, Porto and Dortmund (If you are to believe the Minerio president and the press reports)

Porto have just signed another highly rated youngster for just over 4.4 million, much more like their current set-up as opposed to blowing 20 million.

Dortmund have signed Mkhitaryan and PEA... I think that takes them out of the market for another big signing.

Leaves us, right? And the supposed '2 other clubs'.

Shahktar were one of the 2 other clubs and they opted for Fred instead. I think I read somewhere that Dinamo Kiev also enquired.

Another strange thing is when the agent was talking about the clubs recently, he spoke about Dortmund being interested, despite the fact that they had pulled out when their bid was rejected but he made a point of saying Spurs interest had cooled after going for Pauliniho instead (different type of player and different position). It really seemed like the whole statement was to put pressure on Spurs.

I honestly think everyone is just wishing it was true. We had a root around Bernard, thought the price was too high and have moved on. Until I see some more new genuine media links, I think it's a dead end.

Interesting that Chadli is seemingly plan B, we had ITK other day regarding a proposal for Bernard IIRC.

It just worries me we are going to attempt to massively low ball them.

A summer of Paulinho, Bernard, Benteke and a potential Levy deadline day special would be the best of my lifetime.

We haven't had much on Bernard since before the Confed's Cup. Either we thought he was too dubious in stature/physicality and moved away or the my guess is that there was a lot of complications in the third party....which tells you why Porto is an options as they deal with those things quite well.. I can't find anything recent, so sorry if I missed something. So I think that Chadli would be far from 2nd choice as we've had way more on him that Bernard in general but especially since May.

Although I'd be damned if I could tell you who would be better in either the short, medium or long term.
