Deep joy, it's that time of year again. For those that enjoy transfer window time enjoy the ride and remember to stay well clear of A&C's ban hammer.

Thanks for the update @Trix; I’m hopeful of a shrewd summer where we address our weaknesses with players that Mourinho genuinely wants. I may be asking too much ha! I think Højbjerg is the kind of signing we need - I reckon there’ll be a fair few players that’ll be available due to the financial situation many clubs will find themselves in: I just hope we make the right decisions with our limited budget.

If Jose wants Hojbjerg, Hojbjerg wants us and it's within the budget, there's really no excuse for not getting this one done early doors.

You'd think so, but I guess it depends if they Schneiderlin us - e.g. they are in control because they know we want the deal done. Could well be what all this Everton fannying about is

The bottom line is that PEH doesn't have to go to Everton whatever they offer. He could turn them down and insist it's us or he'll hang about for a season and go for nothing. They're right where we were with Eriksen.

PEH is Jose's #1 choice. The line I got was JM fully understands our financial position (knows what he can spend) and has cut his cloth accordingly as far as targets are concerned.

This means this window should be easier than when Poch was here, and Levy has little room to escape criticism should we not get a good chunk of what JM wants done.

I'm with my contact and his son all day today so might get a few bits as the day goes on. I'll try to post if I can(signal permitting) as we're out on the briney all day.
Top man Trix! thanks as always, very interesting to hear about JM being fully accepting of our financial position and that things 'in theory' should be slightly easier than when Poch was here.

I don't doubt that one bit as people's perception of Jose is quite often mistaken that he just wants and needs tons of money at every clubs he's been at, Jose is fundamentally a man of principles and so I always thought his up front clear honest approach would be much more suited to working with DL than Poch who was a lot 'nicer' and would probably not have as much conviction in his decisions and/or be slightly more picky and particular in the players he wanted whereas Jose is so pragmatic and experienced he'll have provided a full dossier on exactly what our strengths and weaknesses are so its all clearly laid out for Daniel. The issue Jose had at Man.U is that expectations were miss-aligned and Woodward changed his mind half way through Jose's tenure on how accepting he'd be of his targets, if the man above doesn't trust you then you can't have confidence you can plan and build the squad you want and you also know your days are probably numbered whereas at Spurs Jose will have not made this mistake again before taking this job, as Trix says he's fully aware of our limitations and will adapt his targets accordingly.

My main worry is how covid has effected our transfer spend due to no fans and no events in the stadium and the bank loans but if ffp has been relaxed and we borrwed the £175m loan then that can be used to off-set any extra debt from this unfortunate period which hopefully means our transfer budget won't have been so severely effected. We just need to be clever, shrewd and decisive with Jose's key targets, I worry about Levy's dithering and dragging heels and waiting until final day to close deals, leopard and spots etc but fingers crossed as you say things can be a little easier/smoother this time around.

The question is then can Levy deliver which is akin to will my wife give me a blozza this evening, its unlikely but not impossible.

COYS.

Would absolutely love to know who the targets are that Jose has identified.

The part I like is where Trix said "a good chunk of what Jose wants". That to me suggests he would like a good few additions to the squad. A new CB, RB, DM and back up Striker and we would have a very strong squad.

I think that's vaguely where we were with a few players in the past (Berahino, Schneiderlin, Barkley). They don't historically seem to be too chuffed with us (TA maybe being fresh) so I wouldn't be surprised if they muck us about for the hell of it. Of course they need to be nice to make a deal for KWP if they want him, but there's possibly distrust on both sides perhaps.
