Yeah the JJ silence is very strange indeed and does point towards someone other than AVB being manager

JJ was singing like a canary about the Harry dismissal and how levy wanted him out but has said nothing about AVB so it is strange how he is silent over this, does point towards it not being AVB

If JJ is who was named on here 2 days ago he is right at the heart of the club and would know who the manager going to be

Don't agree mate, I think it simply means that Levy is doing his diligence and as yet a final decision hasn't been taken, hence JJ doesn't know for sure one way or another - yet.

JJ hasn't really said anything apart from the press don't genuinely know and they're guessing, that does not mean they havn't mentioned the likely candidates we are considering - he said.

oh, and we'll be happy - as good as Harry, and better in other ways or something, can't remember exactly.

He's never discounted AVB.

but thats what im thinking we are not really happy, i know i wouldnt be! and lets be honest after reading through here, a great deal of members are trying to find positives in avb, i just cant see daniel taking the risk....the fall out will be huge if it all goes tits up after 6 months, fans will be asking serious questions, we could possibly go back 3 years to when harry took over!! it is that crytical, we get it right!! avb is not the man!

JJ sings like a canary? I don't think so.

He was dropping pretty heavy hints, although remaining determinedly ambiguous, that it was Lewis rather than Levy that wanted Harry out. Go to the RO and read his posts.

To be honest, I'll be delighted and think there will be a fair share of the fans who think similar. Not going to repeat the reasons again in here, but I think it could be a perfect fit for the long term future.

JJ may be a great ITK but I don't think he's a mind reader. He also has his own opinion and can't anticipate all the possible criticism to a new appointment.

We've had people complain about the possibility of Mourinho or Guardiola so it's safe to say there's no way we'll all be happy - unless we're planning on announcing a Mourinho/Guardiola/Ancelotti/Blanc/AVB quintet management team.

i wish i share your optimism....i gotta say if it is avb, the clashes he will have with the likes of ade if he stays, makes me think all will not be well in the camp...obviously cant be sure, just going on ade's past managers!

The bottom line is, there seems to be little rhyme or reason when it comes to a manager succeeding or failing. If we hadn't been in extremis, I would have remained opposed to Harry; I'm not exactly enthused by AVB because of his limited experience and lack of discernible personality—he makes Second Choice Steve look like Mr. Charisma—but he could be really good.

So, we keep a player who is known to be a "difficult" character for the short term and instead adjust our short, medium and long term prospects as an organisation a result? Or am I missing something here?

how many called for avb, as soon as it was known harry was leaving, and jj's comment we will be happy! cant remember a huge amount of people calling for avb, to start with! just saying.

He said that levy wanted Harry out but to use his words 'his hands are tied' so JJ definitely indicated that levy wanted Harry out

He definitely needs help with his droning. Send him to a speech therapist or something. "Adjust your inflection a little, Andre. Allow the pitch to go higher at the end of a sentence now and then."

Agreed.

But you do your 'homework' and go with what you think is likely to be the best fit. Any appointment carries a degree of risk, like you say - doesn't stop us having preferences though.

Any manager is a risk

Harry relegated west ham, hardly set the world alight at bournemouth, Southampton and spent a kings ransom to get pompey a cup so he was a far bigger risk than AVB with his track record and he turned out to be one of our best managers ever.

A journeyman with little success took us to a CL quarter final yet people here are moaning about a man that won a domestic title at 32 and a European competition and calling him too big a risk, you couldn't make it up
