The W11 is incredible. Surely the best race car ever built

Certainly up there. It just doesn't have a weak link. Low drag, great engine, planted through high, medium, and low speed corners, I'm sure the team think that there are areas to improve on but it does everything brilliantly. Scary to think that despite the partial development freeze next year the W12 will be even stronger.

So will we ever find out what Ferrari did to their engine/fuel setup last year? Never like the idea that Ferrari and the FIA have done a deal to keep it a secret.

No nothing official, doubt we ever will. Wasn't the rumour that they worked out how often and when the fuel sensor refreshes every second, and that by pumping more fuel between each refresh they gain more power? So the added second fuel pump will pick up any anomalies between refreshes.
I'm not sure how you control that so precisely so quickly but it stinks the FIA never came and directly called out their cheating. Which ironically has helped lead to the W11 being so dominant, as Toto stated that they pushed their own development to the limit believing Ferrari had legitimately beaten them on pace.

If it was any other team their dirty secret would have been outed in my opinion. However as we know that won’t ever happen now.

As the poster above says Ferrari have f**ked themselves by making Mercedes really go for it

Anyone else get the feeling that the FIA are thrashing a bit of a pretty sick horse here now?

The amount of money in the sport is untenable, we all know that now, even with the decades of teams who spend more win more, and suddenly the advertising is shaky, the events aren't as glam, it's much more all-hands to the pumps just to get the season out the way.

Once this COVID business is part of our daily lives and industries have adjusted to the new normal, I don't see how F1 can survive in it's current format.

Too much international pressure - this sport revolves around big money and inevitably money is where corruption thrives and human rights are questionable. The way this current generation are experiencing life, I can't see them being sympathetic to what is essentially the billionaire scalextric.

With the exception of the failures to give the BLM protest an adequate stage at times I think this season has been excellent.

Viewership has been growing over the last couple of years. Some shit tracks like Monaco aren’t relevant any more but in general the F1 package is fairly strong I would argue.

I enjoy it more now than I have done for ages. 2000 to 2010 were pretty sturgid affairs... generally anyway.

Prior to that was great and it has been gradually improving for the past decade.

Bottas looked shell shocked today after Lewis found so much time in Q3

Certainly an interesting end to the procession that is F1 nowadays.
I think barring the obvious single team dominance at the front, the rest of the pack have been much less of a procession this year than for quite a few years, making the racing much more interesting.

Can't argue with that it's definitely better behind the podium places. Just that Mercedes are soo strong nobody seems capable of catching them. Still some good battles for the other positions thankfully.

I agree, they’re way above everyone. Only an exceptional driver (Verstappen) is keeping them honest to any degree.
The racing has been really enjoyable around the other places as you say, as it could be almost anyone in any order for the rest of the top ten, which had only happened under wet conditions for quite a while.

I was watching. Good win for Lewis. Verstappen has no answer. Mercedes made the wrong call on giving Bottas the soft for the final stint.
Bottas was never going to pass max anyway.

Only good thing about F1 just now is it's competitive outside the top 3! Just hope racing point get to keep the parts they have and keep on going.
