@Mr.D & @WhiteStripe - I think they said yesterday that now if you address the ball and it moves, but not because of something you did then there is no penalty. Seems sensible.

And you play it from its new position, without replacing it.

True @Arnoldtoo, as @Mr.D said the rule was amended. But the rule says something like "you face a penalty unless it is known or reasonably assumed to be known that it wasn't an act of the player" so practically this would be a nightmare unless the r&a ruled that any ball movement was deemed "non penalty" for the ramiander of the tournament. Otherwise they'd be constantly ruling moving balls all day.

It's the fact the balls were moving on the greens. That's what makes it unplayable. If you address your ball on the green and it moves you are liable for a penalty stroke. Wind or no wind.

I was only poking fun at the players because they are too precious and play on immaculate courses every week. I know the balls moving caused the stop in play. But id love to see them in hard conditions without it stopping play.

The R&A shouldn't have cut the greens so short when the forecast was for high winds.

Anyway onto today, was a cracking round from Pepperil until that tee shot OOB at 17

Some great scoring today so far.

Pity the same can't be said for my round this morning....

Don't like Spieth at all, he's a cocky little prick.

Not the most exciting player either.

Not the most exciting player either.

His demeanour reminds me of Woods in his prime, says fuck all, gives very little on course, boring to watch.

Can't warm to him myself either.

What time are they likely to be finishing?

Could be a very exciting day. Anyone from about 7- up could make a charge and put the pressure on and there's a great mix of established names and relative unknowns.

Spieth was starting to look ominous yesterday, but I still hold out hope for a Garcia/Rose double charge.

Couple of good scores already this morning.

Looks like the course is there to be walloped if someone really hits their stride and the weather stays calm.

I haven't actually seen any footage of today's play so far, but looking at the scoreboards it looks like the 17th is playing a bit tricky.

16 have played it and only 5 have got better than a bogey! Mind you, having had a very geeky look at the stats for the week it's been the one ruining rounds since the start.

20-25 MPH winds and rain now, interesting.

think Harrington could do very well in the rain, but still happy with my bet on Oosthuizen before tournament started

I reckon this is the most interesting final round in a major for quite a few years.

Really is completely up for grabs.

I'm going with Marc Leishman to win. You heard it here first.

Looks like it might end up being a playoff. Possibly including about 10 players!

Spieth charging again after that double-bogey...

Set up to be the best ever finish to an Open/Major....cue all high expectations being washed away with the rain and a boring mundane finish later tonight!
