Think I may have said this before and if i have forgive me. The first time saw Jimmy play was for Chelsea against us in he Easter of 1960. We had just lost to Man City at home when Cliff Jones mssed a penalty and needed to beat chelsea to keep up our challenge for the title. Well Jimmy absolutely ripped us that day and we lost 1-0 Leaving the ground I said to my cousin who was with me I would give anything to see Jimmy playng for us, that dream came true the season after the double , but the shame is if we had won just one of those two home game we would have ended up as champions. so my memories are bitter/sweet but for many years after Jimmy gave me endless joy watching him week after week. IMHO the greatest ever Spurs player.

Supporting Spurs runs in my family from my old man's side. Both of his parents were Spurs fans also so it goes a way back.

However my grandfather absolutely loved Jimmy. He loved him so much he would even take my Dad to Chelsea games just so he can see Jimmy play and show my dad just how good a player he was, so you can just imagine how ecstatic my grandfather was when his favourite team signed his favourite player of all-time back in 1961.

First fixture at home v West Ham 1967 won 5-1 Jimmy scored 2!

My first game saw us beat Blackpool 6-1 Jimmy scored three. I was slightly disappointed as I wanted to see him score more but as a ten year old was so happy to me my hero live. Will always be my favourite player

apologies but I have probably said all this before

The Daily Mail are running a campaign to get him recognised with 'a gong' There's a petition here:

The problem is the people backing this campaign are Ian Duncan Smith and the Daily Fail, which makes me not want to back this campaign.

Who gives a F**K who's behind it just support the best player who ever played for us and possibly the greatest this country has produced.
When 26 year old Tennis players and 30 year old cyclists get Knighthoods and Greavsie has never even had an MBE the system is wrong.
The sad thing is that if they give him a knighthood now many will think it's because he is a very sick man rather than for his great sporting achievements. When you realise he is so far ahead of any other player with his total number of goals 366 I believe. That's nearly 100 more than Shearer the next best.
He had such quick feet and control and I loved watching him play. I have seen many great players at Spurs and have watched them since the 1940's but Greavsie was a miracle man with magic feet.
If Andy Murray can receive a Gong with just a couple of Grand Slam titles then it should be Sir James Greaves.

Signed up and shared on twitter.

Let's all get behind the best striker, that I've seen. to play for our club.
I saw the end of the Duke and since then but none touch Greavsie

I find this view very petty and small minded

Jimmy Greaves is the best player to have ever pulled on a Spurs shirt and one of the greatest ever goal scorers the beautiful game has ever seen.

It’s a disgrace this legend has never been honoured and if it takes a petition backed by the Daily Mail and IDS to get him the honour he so rightly deserves then so be it.
